Two US military strikes

Hell, part of me wonders if the government shutdown was the perfect smokescreen to cover these missions. Two Navy SEAL teams were sent into Libya and Somalia, respectively. The first time was to extract a militant responsible for embassy bombings. Second was a military response to the Naoribi attack.

Apparently, the Somalia raid didn't go as anticipated. It reminds me of the Blackhawk Down situation.

De yanks have had special forces on the ground and have been bombing the shyte out of Somalia since 2006. They also funded Kenyan and Ethiopian invasions. All of this led to the rise of Al Shabab.

For all his high falutin' talk Obama is just another in a long line of gobshyte American presidents. He can shove his undeserved nobel peace prize up his hole.

I really wonder about the scale of American military operations in the Horn of Africa and the Arabian peninsula. Must be immense.

If we just openly let the Americans police the world they wouldn't have to go through so much effort hiding it and could probably do a better job of it

Ya can't bate anti Obama flavour of the month views :)

Great president. Hasn't broken one promise that was not the fault of the Republicans. Has brought US unemployment back to the pre GFC level. The US and the world would do well to allow him a third term, because unfortunately it looks like next time we will get either Hillary or some Republican nut.

Grand bit of policing they did there in Iraq, Vietnam, Afghanistan, etc.

maybe if they didn't try to police the world things might be a little better for everyone

    Good.

It is only the worst of the worst still left there, and a fair few of those who have been released have got involved in terrorism again. Keep them there forever as far as I care.

That's surprising. So, you're saying their time at gitmo didn't make them all warm and fuzzy towards the U sofa? How odd.

    Good.

Just say it: 'I support torture'. Don't pussy-foot around the issue - be a proud fascist supporter of torture.

Would you blame them? If you tortured me and were stupid enough to let me go I'd be coming to get you.

If you have the time or inclination you should get hold of a copy of Dirty Wars by Jeremy Scahill. It's the best account of US assassination policy/drone warfare currently available.

Pritty sick isnt it ? has there ever been a time through out history that torturing someone has done anything but create future problems down the line even if it is effective right this moment the persons family and friends will become somewhat rightfully annoyed with you and yours

    .

I support torture of people blatantly involved in terror attacks if it can help source information to prevent more, yes.

    So ****ing what.

Were really meant to be the "good" guys we shouldn't resort to dark ages techniques to get information or prevent the very odd attack on our country's

What's your problem with either of the missions?

It's gas though, how slamming a hellfire into a group of people just to hit one lad is not, err, "terrorism". Turned around to face the other way, I wonder how we would define it?

    I support torture

Don't make excuses. Just say it. Say 'I support torturing other human beings'.

    Fascist, torture advocating, Obama supporter?

    Yep, sounds about right.

Drone strikes are bizarre theres no way the same sorta "operation" in europe or america or russia etc would be seen as anything but an immediate and direct deceleration of war

nukeing goat farmers in Afghanistan no probs though
