    Well, anyone interested?

Maybe we could incorporate a few Heli trips?

    This side of Christmas hopefully.

    Reply if interested.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 12,863 ✭✭✭✭crosstownk

    Sounds interesting. Depends on date/time.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,124 ✭✭✭Mech1

We would need someone "involved" in Weston to come forward to help organize a suitable date, as in a nice busy day at the field.

Otherwise prob better to go to EIDW.

Yep - I'm open to suggestions. Sounds like a good idea no matter what the location.

Sounds like a great idea Pat, I had planned to organize one before moving out here to malta for the year.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 614 ✭✭✭davidd24

Never been to one, I'd be up for Weston thou, 36 hours done, I may even get an hour in before a beer....

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 603 ✭✭✭Dublinflyer

Don't forget weston is a day light airport only so there would not be too much going on after dark but sounds like a great idea!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 9,577 ✭✭✭lord lucan

I hopefully should make it, not too far from Weston , all depends on whether I'm working or not.

Ok looking at 9 heads sofar, lets wait for 12.
Means that if two or three dropout, otd we still have a meaningful attendance.

Thanks everyone sofar. My idea would be a Sat or Sun afternoon. We still havent a Weston "expert" offer to assist, im sure there out there ;)

Im busy tonight, anyone wanna post a list of usernames interested? we can add or delete as ness.

    Thanks
    Pat.

Those who have expressed an interest so far.....

    1. Mech1
    2. islanderre
    3. andy_g
    4. SeaSlacker
    5. Stealthirl
    6. davidd24
    7. Dublinflyer
    8. lord lucan
    9. crosstownk

A few (myself included) are dependent on date & time so maybe if those who are interested could express their preferences to give an idea what suits the majority.

Personally, I'd prefer EIDW (Boot Inn springs to mind, if it's still open) in the evening as I'm not a fan of daytime beers but I'm by no means discounting a daytime affair at EIWT should it be the preferred choice.

Any other interested A&A folks? Please state your preferred airfield and time. I'm sure some dates will be bandied about once we get to 12 souls on board.

Still no Weston expert coming forward, Anyone at EIDW that could plan a interesting time to be had by a dozen of us? Maybe a tour of the ATC layout, followed by a tour of the fire dept?

I'd say a phone call to weston and explain the plan would be enough to get the ball rolling. I'm sure if they thought 15 or 20 lads would come down for some grub and pints they would organise a little trip around the hangers/ATC and maybe the Sims. No need for a Weston expert :)

A lot of red tape to get through if you wanted to do the same at EIDW I would imagine.

Best thing to do would be to give Weston ops or the restaurant a buzz and see what they can organise.

    Good angle.

Is there anybody on here that frequents Weston that would know the right person to approach (pardon the pun :D) rather than 'cold call'?

Or how about a Baldonell tour / walkaround?

Somebody here could do / organise it, im sure.

Or even rescue heli base beside EIDW, would be a great day out.

Can anyone say, "lets see, im working on it"?

Hi again, I have had contact from management at Weston (they very nicely initiated the contact), and they would be very happy to accommodate a group of us for a visit and maybe a bit more.

The "nuts and bolts" so to speak of this day trip will not be for general public reading here on the forum, so anyone still interested please pm me with a email address asap so we can get the ball really rolling on this.

Copies of photo id and address will need to be in place before anything can be organised so I advise you to dig that out also.

Looking forward to a great day out SOON.

    Pat.

I would assume this will be for over 18's only? If so that'll be me ruled out of the equation.

yeah but some of us will be driving so you wont be the only one on soft drinks.

Now it will prob mean talking nice to your parents for a bit of cash in your pocket to make the day a bit more interesting than just looking at the aircraft.

I would really like to attend but shift pattern work and a young family would prevent me from being able to confirm in advance.

Ok, after careful consideration, and having been informed by Mech1 that strippers will be present*, I have decided I am going.

email giving a bit more info / choices will be sent after we have a dozen or more on board, that amount gives me a little leverage when sorting prices etc, 20 people would be great.

Looking to sort this by months end, and plan B will be a week later if weather stalls the ball.
