Upgrade My Router?

I currently have eircoms old Netopia 2247 NGW as a home router.

I know these aren't meant to be the greatest piece of kit. I just wondered would wireless speed and connection improve with a better router?

    If so any recommendations?

If you're in contract for broadband they'll give you a new one.

If you're still with Eircom, they'll only replace it with a Zyxel modem, not exactly an improvement. ;)

Changing the modem is not likely to improve the connection speed. If you're looking for a decent home networking router, I recommend the ASUS RT-AC66U. Just connect it to the Netopia modem and disable WLAN in the Netopia.

You're saving at the wrong end! :D

Still somewhat outside you budget, this TP-Link router is getting good reviews (and it is compatible with OpenWRT, DD-WRT).
