I was scanning through wiggle and looking at stems and came across the FSA K-force light carbon stem which is priced at a ridiculous €277 and thats with a 30% sale discount. The weight for the 100mm version is 160grams. The stem on my F5 is a Felt SL 100mm stem and only weighs 126grams. The FSA stem is made from carbon and has titanium hardware so where is the weight coming from? How could anyone pay that price for a stem whch is actually quite heavy.
I sold a KLS 90mm stem here yesterday and it only weighed 129grams and cost me €20. I realise that stems will contribute to over all feel and stiffness especially when climbing but is there that much of a difference that would entice people to pay silly amounts for them?
