CE Scheme/Tax

2 people in long term relationship, 1 full time PAYE worker, 2nd on Community Employment Scheme. If they were thinking about moving in together, would the person on C.E. need to inform Social Welfare, although payment is from FAS? Would the full time worker be able to avail of any tax credits from the other person? And finally what would be the implications if they decided to get married in the future?

    Thanks

Your partner on CE Scheme I don't think would have to notify social welfare at this time as he/she is classed as being in employed, i.e no social welfare payment. It may effect JB claim when scheme runs out though. You wont be entitled to any tax credits as co-habitants, only applies if and when married. Regards when married, I couldn't tell you! HTH

Thanks for the reply.it does help.the tax issue is not a deal breaker as regards moving in together just was worried that it would affect his money and we would be struggling on lower money if it did.thought that if we had moved in together and declared it that it might be possible for me to benefit tax wise.he is safe as regards the scheme for the next 6 yrs because he is over 50 and it is possible to get a longer extension because of that apparently.
