gigabyte gtx 660 OC vs 660 ti OC in terms of price and performance.

The 660 is about 30-40 euro cheaper then the 660 ti.

Price/performance is about the same on both of them.

This would be a better deal for €150. Delivery was free a few days ago, not sure if it still is. The cards are actually sapphire 7870 ghz editions. Not the generic one pictured.

Word of warning. When I got that exact product off Pixmania, I was sent a VTX3D branded card(7870), not the Sapphire. I think they just send whatever they have excess stock of.

In any case my VTX3D crapped out after a month and I got a refund. Eventually ended up buying the the GTX660TI and am now contemplating getting another one and going SLI :D

Maybe Pixmania stopped sending out the VTX cards after I got the the refund?? Was back in April.

Ah maybe it's a bit random. A couple have bought it here recently and got the Sapphire ghz edition.

A lot of the VTX cards as well use the ref cooler, what was your one like?

I was thinking of giving 2 of those generic's a whirl, but maybe not if its a reference cooler!

Still want you're guys opinions on gigabyte gtx 660 OC vs 660 ti OC, I've been doing some research on google and youtube and I seem to be getting mixed views really. Some people don't think its worth the extra money for the ti and some people swear by the ti.

I already told you that the price/performance ratio is about the same for both cards. It's down to how much you want to spend.

    VTX3D_HD7870_X.jpg.

    This was the exact card.

It looks like it may be a reference cooler. There is a also a Tahiti model and I assume that uses their own Custom cooler

If you have the money go for the ti. The cheaper you can get it for the better.

Here are the comparisons of both from the nVidia website, Notice the better frame rates in Max Payne 3(~42 FPS Gtx660ti vs ~35 FPS Gtx660 )

660 ti has a crippled bandwidth, 1 out of 4 memory modules is disabled to cut costs. So 2 modules runs 512MB and third runs 1GB. It' s an asymetric design. If I were you i'd shop around and get at least 760 or 670. Some of 670's were priced ridiculously low few weeks ago going for 200 pounds, I've even saw 680 selling for EUR250 for a day or two.

Check with amazon, HWVS, overclockers or scan to see if you can get a deal on these or AMD equivalents like 7950 or 7970...
7850 and 7870 are also nice equivalents vs 660

It's better, but not much. You will see extra FPS here and there over 660 ti. Apart from being newest generation it also supports DX11.1
It has much better memory bandwidth tho, 760 will shine in games with HD texture mods like Skyrim.

On a same note: 7950 is also a good choice when hunting for price/performance on this budget

See for yourself (Benchmarks are under summary):

www.techpowerup.com - go to video card reviews, go to the summary at the end for the comparison

www.anandtech.com - click on bench and choose your cards

Not an exact science but should give you an idea
