Upgrade for Newer Titles

Hi guys, I built a PC last year, here is my spec:

    i5 3570k @ 3.4Ghz (Overclocking soon)
    8GB RAM 160Mhz
    EVGA GTX 670 FTW
    Super-Flower Amazon 80Plus 650W
    Win 7

I've been pretty happy with the performance of this machine:
    80 FPS for BF3 with Ultra Settings @ 1080p

I was considering going SLI for newer titles but the gtx 670 is still very pricey even with the release of the GTX 7 series. I was wondering what other kinds of GFX configs offer excellent performance in terms of higher FPS for a better price???

Any suggestions are welcome. Cheers :)

Note: I'm ok switching to AMD GFX, using crossfire or SLI.

Which exactly games you having issues with? Gtx 670 still can run any game on very high settings.
The only thing it might struggle with is bf4 beta. Keep in mind it runs like a pig on mine 680 too. It's not gpu fault as much off optimisation and driver issue for a very very early bf4. Beta build.

My advice would be to wait. AMD New you line should be announced this month. I have a feeling that Amd will the Market by the balls with New gen.
The other reason to wait : there are still no games that would make 670 absolute on 1080p. Wait until it is really gets sweating or keep an eye on adverts for second hand one. With New amd gpus, there should be good few 670 dumped in the adverts.

Well yeah the BF4 Beta last night was a disaster. Unplayable until I downloaded the latest beta drivers from nvidia and even after that it wasn't stable. I was ranging from 33-80 fps on medium settings with the odd dip to 10-15 FPS. The only other game that suffered was FC3 multiplayer, I had to turn alot of the settings down for that, all other games have 0 issues with GTX 670.

I'm a big Battlefield player and after hearing about AMD's Mantle API, I've started considering looking at AMD GFX cards. But I think I'll take the advice and wait for a bit.

Sort of in the same boat here:

    i7-3770k (no overclock yet)
    EVGA GTX 670 FTW
    1440p monitor

The plan was to upgrade to SLI when prices on the 670 dropped, but the 670 is still kind of expensive at this point like you said. Last week scan had a sale and I ordered the Zotac gtx 670 for £175. I'm still waiting - they're out of stock and the new shipment is delayed. I would have preferred another EVGA FTW card, but the prices are just silly. And forget about used stuff, people seem to think they can sell for more than new!!

It's a beta. Don't expect it to not have issues. You are testing the game for these issues. That's the whole point of a beta.

Dude, I'm actually a software developer by profession, I work as part of a team that release software all the time including (Alphas & Betas). I know exactly what a beta is intended for but other people with less powerful gfx running at 1080p are getting better FPS that is why I'm asking.

I dont understand why everyone is jumping the gun? If it was the full release of the game and it had these performance issues I would understand people wanting to upgrade. But until full release and proper gpu driver releases I would sit tight and hold onto my cash.

Theres a thread in the battlefield forum covering the beta on boards and its a whole range of setups having issues with performance. The consoles have issues with the beta at the moment as well all of which says to me that its the game not the setups that are at fault here.

I would be kicking myself if I bought a whole new setup or gpu only to find out the issue was really a badly optimized beta.

Also I have a 7950 which is comparable to a 670 performance wise and I can get a fairly solid 50-55 fps (barring the odd very bad frame drop)at 1440p at high settings so id imagine its just a driver issue nvidia have at the moment.

Heres a link to the beta chat thread if anyone is interested:
