Independent status SUSI

I have applied for a contribution towards my fees in respect of a level 9/10 course that I have started this year.

I started a Masters in Sep 2009.I didn't receive any assistance towards this as I was on Social Welfare but living at home.

I have lived independently since then (Sep 2009). I passed the coursework of the Masters in 2010 but deferred the thesis until the following year as I was working full time, so I graduated in 2011.

I submitted all documentation to SUSI for the course I am now on but recently received a letter looking for proof of independent residency from Oct 2008!

I am well below the income limits for last year. I didn't realise when applying that a three year break in study was required bring about a change in status from dependent to independent.

Could I argue that I re-entered the Masters in 2011 & was independent at that stage?

Any advice would be most appreciated.
