    Hi all,
I hope this is the right place to ask after my bike got robbed about two weeks ago,I have been informed by the insurance company to get quotes for a replacement bike the thing is it is nearly 20 years since I bought a bike from a shop.
So any Ideas of decent bike shops around Dublin with good after care service going be spending about 1k on the bike plus lights pump etc,I know of euro cycles from the radio adverts but that's about it.
So if anyone knows of other shops that have a good after sales and good priced bikes please can you let me know.

ThinkBike in Rathmines give 2 years free servicing with their bikes and I got a good deal on a Trek 7.5fx from them last May. I'm happy with them and would recommend them but they're the only one I've bought a bike from and I'm sure there's plenty of other good bike shops out there.

I'd suggest posting up where you live and asking for recommendations near you. The 2 year servicing wouldn't have been half as useful if I wasn't able to walk down to them when I bent the rear derailleur...

check out http://www.fitzcycles.ie/ was in there on Saturday, they are having a 20% off all bikes in store. Great aftercare and as a happy customer I would have no problem recommending them.

Bought mine from cyclesurgery, Dundrum shopping centre.
Good selection of Cube & other brands, good service too.

I've had good experiences here too with my new bike.
They include 3 x safety checks (make sure everything is working and adjust what needs adjusting) and 1 free full service.

Nice people to deal with too and they have good sales.

Wheel Worx in Liffey Valley apparently do life time free servicing if it's aftercare you're looking for.

Without a doubt Super Cycle store tallaght, theyre the cheapest ive seen in the south and im guessing biggest. If your buying a bike and gear over certain amount they give a decent reduction (I think its 10%) and then further discounts on all products bought in store (not sure about online). I had minor problems with the setup of the bike, after market mudgards were installed when i bought it and there was a small dowell rubbing off the tyre, I actually didnt notice( I hadnt cycled in 10 years) it after a 30 km cycle i did straight out the door of the shop. I just thought bike was noisy but copped on and realised it wasnt right. anyways there was shredded rubber everywhere and a grove gone from the tyre, so i brought it back, they took the hit and replaced the tire no hassle at all another bicycle shop might have said you were stupid enough not to notice, but they replaced it with a similar quality tyre. Also they put the wrong pedals on it and it was fixed immediately!

Cheapest , largest and the lads are sound out there too, Highly recommend if something is not right they look after you

I bought my road bike in Wheelworx and they do offer lifetime free service and repair.
I've had to take my bike in a few times for various things and it's always been free.
If they're fitting a new bit to the bike, then you pay for the deraileur/ whatever, but the labour is free.

I got mine in Cyclebike just off Capel St.
The two owners, Terry and Darren, are excellent and you should get a good deal

+1 cycle superstore very good range to choose from and good service.

However I would also check out bike shops in your local area which would be handier for you to get to re aftersales services etc.

Also don't forget the cycle to work scheme this could save you a few bob. Up to €1k on bike and accessories are allowable against tax.

Just an up date lads had a quick look at the sites you recommended,There is really a large selection of stores and bikes in Dublin not to mention makes I never heard off:o.
The wheelworx site offering free servicing sounds interesting is there any catch as I've never heard of that before? Cycle superstore site is full of bikes and parts so I might drop in to both these stores.
Also what makes would you recommend to buy have about €1100 give or take €150 extra,My last bike was a felt q920 so I was thinking of just getting the same but I am open to the views on different makes & models.

Shops don't make that much of a margin on selling bikes. They make a lot more on components, accessories, consumables etc. By offering free servicing (labour), they will be able to sell you replacement parts and they will hope that you will return to buy other items.

Tony (the mechanic) has left lately. Anyone know where he went?

With so much choice in shops out there just start at your local bike shop. Go in and get a feel for the place. Do the staff seem okay etc.

As for getting the bije serviced etc would a local shop be easier to get to? Bigger isn't always better.

If you're going to tge Superstore in Tallaght have a look at www.thecycleinn.com too

True, I've nearly always picked up something to buy when I'm in there with my bike, I'm proud of myself when I leave without buying anything.
There's no catch to the offer, basically as long as the shop is in business your bike will be serviced/ fixed for free.
The mechanic (I can't remember his name) in there is really good and has always done a good job on my bike.
I think Wheelworx is owned by Rob and Aisling who are two triathletes, they're often in the shop and are very helpful. If there's a bike you like, they're very happy to let you test ride it outside.
I'd agree though with chosing somewhere handy to where you live, Wheelworx is only a 15 min drive from me, so it's easy for me to get to, which makes a big difference.
