    Greetings folks...

Missus was driving home from work and and orange engine light came on..

Just had a look, and first thing I checked was the oil.. Seemed very low, so I topped it up and restarted the engine... No light..

I'm still a little wary... Does the polo have an independent oil light, or is the orange engine light also the oil light?

If it has an oil light it should come on when you turn on ignition red light to indicate low oil pressure as the engine isn't running. Usually that same light comes on in orange to indicate low oil. I'd of thought most cars have the light although the engine management light wouldn't come on with the oil light so maybe the polo doesn't have one.

Id recommend a diagnostic scan on the engine ecu.

Id take a guess that it was the engine management light that came on.

Better to be safe than sorry.

    Where abouts is the car

It was probably the top up oil warning light.

We used to have the same model polo 1.2 and found the
    engine light a little temperamental.

It used to come on if you stalled the car but would switch it self off again within a day.
