I'm trekking to Canada for a few weeks snowboarding in a few months but everywhere I've looked I've been told that oversize baggage on the flight, can not be over 160cm.

Has anyone else come across this issue?

I've flown with a board bag to Canada a number of times and have never had a problem. Not even charged for the bag.

Ski/Board bags are free on most Trans Atlantic flights, Air Canada dont charge as long as its within your allowance same for Aer Lingus and BA.

In the past but apparently as of the end of August a new 160cm rule is in effect.

Diemos: Most airlines have this including, Swiss and Lufthansa but it does not include Ski and Board bags, considering the average size of most snow sports equipment, it would not be practical.

Ok, excellent thanks, because everyone I've spoken too said that they can not tell me whether or not I'll be able to bring my board or what the charge will be.
    Maddening.

    Hey All
I fly out in Early November, with Aer Lingus, if anyone is flying trans atlantic before then and bringing a board bag can you let me know how you get on?
    Thank you

Flew out start of October with Virgin Atlantic. Board bags were fine (and they didn't enforce weight limits on sporting equipment either which was nice).
