Toyota Carina Central Locking

I was given a Toyota Carina E that had been off the road for a few years and when I picked it up the only way to open the drivers door was to pull the handle on the inside of the door, after a while i got the idea to pull the internal and external handles at the same time and this resolved the issue of not being able to open the drivers door from the outside, however the key will only unlock the drivers door (have to turn the key and pull the handle at the same time or the door will just lock again when the key is turned back to center). The central locking will open fine when i use the key in the passenger door and will open all the doors in the car, so it appears to be just the drivers door that causes the issue, the buttons on the inside of the drivers door will cause a clicking sound in the other doors but the doors won't lock or unlock using them, any suggestions on resetting this?

Theres a whole bunch of linkages inside the door frame, sounds like they are worn.
There is a bit of adjustment in some of them - take off the door card, get yourself a big beer and a small torch, and spend a while figuring who does what. You can bend/straighten rods, and reposition some of the fixings.

And most likely bugger it up beyond all fixing ;)

get the drivers door sorted and the rest will probably work fine.

id the same problem with a carina i once had..everything is linked up to the drivers door actuator..there is also definitely some wear in the linkages most likely the one on the actuator. you can pick one up in a scrapper for 40 to 50 bucks and well worth it. simple to fit only akward bit is at the top of the door when connecting that particular linkage..best of luck
