Just after buying tickets for the 3 matches on Ticketmaster there and I have to say they're cracking value. Credit to the IRFU on their pricing. You can get into Samoa for €12.50, Oz for €25 and NZ for €50. There were even cheaper tickets available yesterday when I checked but all gone now (€7.50, €17.50 and €37.50 respectively). Obviously theres the Ticketbastard €2/3 blood money on top but still decent value. Particularly the Oz game.

In contrast looked at Leinster - Connacht in the Rabo for Oct Bank Holiday Weekend and its minimum €30 to get into the ground.

That's very good actually, but kinda shows that they had trouble selling out :-(

Credit to the IRFU... are you serious.??
They simply don't want a repeat of the debacle/embarrassment of the last Autumn series.;)

Some limited view tickets on sale for the Ireland Australia game at €12.50, and €20/€25 for the NZ game. Pretty good.

Crap seats, but for live International Rugby its a really good price.

You could go to 3 International games for €40-50 - that's incredible value. There aren't terrible seats in the Aviva either, its not like the Olympia where you could be stuck behind a pillar.

I got them, they are down low behind the goal. Won't see much action down the other end, but there is a big screen for that. And I'll have a great view of Ben Smith, Savea etc as they dive over the line ;)

2 Tickets for the Australia game = €29 total including TMaster Charge
2 Tickets for NZ game = €45 including TM charge

€75 for 2 people to two matches.

There are some pretty brutal seats. There's a number that are below pitch level, oddly enough, so you've a serious job to see what's going on if the action is more than 40m away.

And there are a number that have the view obscured due to the overhanging structure of the stadium in the upper rows.

Lastly the front rows of each tier near the exits are a pox to be at as you have people walking in front of you constantly blocking your view.

I'd be wary of buying those tickets for all three matches without knowing precisely where they are.

Where they had a full house for one game and sold 43.5k for the other?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 24,767 ✭✭✭✭molloyjh

Yeah got stuck down the bottom tier inside the first 10-12 rows for the SA game in 2010 (first international game in the stadium). The view was awful. Have made sure not to get stuck there again.

There are many, many terrible seats in the Aviva. It's not a very well-designed stadium at all. (it is better than the olympia but you would sort of expect that)

In fairness I would say about 85% of the stadium has good views.

I don't know if a 15% poor viewing rate constitutes as a bad design, considering the limitations.

For a new stadium in the 21st century there are way too many poor seats. If they had put a normal cantilevered roof on it instead of the metal monstrosity that's there, then a lot of the sightline issues wouldn't be there.

At the end of the day, if you can say you were at the Aviva when Ireland beat the ABs in BOD's last test match against NZ, that's worth something.

Not saying it will happen (!), but you have to be in to win.

Most of the tickets for the NZ game are €75 or €90 plus another €4 booking fee. This is a challenge game!

Before the old Lansdowne was knocked in 2006, terrace tickets were €25.

    Good value?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 45,433 ✭✭✭✭thomond2006

In fairness they have copped themselves on big time since the 2010 debacle.

The 75 euro seats I got for NZ were low on the upper tier on the halfway line. Fantastic seats.

    The premium tickets are €90+
    Cat 1 tickets are €75.
There's no terrace tickets now so it's not a like for like comparison.
Old west and east stand tickets were in or around the €70-75 mark in the old stadium for certain games.
Tickets could be cheaper but if that was the case, how can the IRFU fund the professional game?

Stadium is more or less the same capacity. The old stadium between the North, South & East terrace had 25,000 tickets @ €20-€25 for these games.

Maybe you touched on it at the end, the professional game, I think I enjoyed it a lot more before it became an exercise in seeing what is the maximum one can extract from the fan base.

Yep they need the money so we can continue to keep as many pros playing here as possible.
The revenue that the international matches brings in helps to subsidise the provincial teams.

In fairness the prices are far from gouging.

I'm going to the 3 games for circa €50 which really is incredible value in this day and age for 3 test matches. I know the games themselves are essentially a moneymaking exercise.

I mean for example; I want to go to Leinster - Connacht in the Rabo on the bank holiday weekend and the cheapest I can get into the ground for is €30.

I just got tickets for Ire Vs Samoa for €15 each,
and Ire Vs Aus for €20 each.

Good value as far as I am concerned.

Will let you know what the seats are like.

    Remind me after the games.

tickets finally arrived today for the aussie and all blacks games.

looking at the Austrailia game on ticketmaster today there are loads of tickets available. i would of thought it would sell well because of the lions playing them this year

As for the 6 nations tickets id say tickets for the Wales match (Week 2) will be hard to get. Scotland (week 1) and Italy (Week 4) will be easy enough to get tickets id say. Scotland game may be tricky as its the first week

    Tickets arrived in the post.

Not too long until the games.

On a similar note - I see that tickets for the Leinster game in December are available from ticketmaster.

I got tickets for the Leinster game, midway between halfway and the 22, 4 rows from the front. They were dramatically cheaper from the sold out row behind them

Anyone know why? I know the stands down there aren't steep, but am I going to miss some of the game or something?

Most of those 'sold out' tickets would have been assigned to Leinster season ticket holders so the price of them is a nominal number, chances are no-one actually paid it.

But yeah, the first few rows of the lower stand are very low, I'm afraid you might struggle to see what is happening on the far side of the pitch. There were complaints from season-ticket holders a couple of seasons back.

Really can't wait. I'm going to all three, but am equally excited for each one. Can't remember the last time I was so excited to go see an international before. Probably 5 years ago or more.

Unfortunately the way the stadium is designed the pitch is higher than any of the first few rows.

Got tickets through the rugby club for the Ireland V New Zealand match. they charged 85 euro each and thats for upper tier 502. what is the view there like. wudnt be very gud with heights. I thiught those prices were fairly steep but its a big game so i dont mind. really looking forward to it now.

502 will be in line with the try area; you will have a good vista of most of the ground looking inwards. It is high up but unless you have a row that is high up you should be fine; seeing as you paid €85 I'd say you probably have a low row.

The upper tier seats, specifically the lower half of the upper tier are IMO the best "standard" seats in the house.

I got three tickets for the All Blacks game for €40 each on Ticketmaster for block 524.
Been to the Aviva four times but never on the upper tier.
Really hope they're good seats as I'm hearing of a lot of people paying €75 or €85 for their upper tier seats.
Can't wait, but when I saw last night that it's sold out I got even more excited. Atmosphere will be electric I'd say.
Really hope Mcaw and Carter are fit and playing because it will probably be the last time most of us will get to see them in all their glory in the Flesh.

Officially sold out. Best ask a friend or two in your club in case some spares crop up. A few will but they will go quickly so act fast.

I have tickets for the upper tier in for block 525 row JJ. Anyone know what the view is like from that far back and is your view blocked by the big white bar thing hanging down from the roof or is that just a myth?

  • Administrators Posts: 54,417 Admin ✭✭✭✭✭awec

As far as I know the white metalwork doesn't restrict the view of the pitch at all, just your view of the other stands if you are far enough back.

Plus the big screens, and presumably you might have issues when the ball is punted high :)

To be honest, it's a bit of a joke that a modern stadium like that has view issues at all.

Trying to buy North Stand tickets today which are advertised at €35 for the Oz game. When I click on the seats I get 2 options - Full Price tickets for €35 or North Stand Adult for €50. When I click on the cheaper tickets it gives me an error saying the tickets have been removed from my basket but if I click the higher price it goes through OK. Has anyone else had this problem and managed to get it sorted at the lower price?

The view from the North Stand is fine... Even down in the front rows, I've never had a problem. I have heard people complaining about it, but I don't see the problem to be honest. You will see the whole match, no problem.

The only problem in the aviva are the seats at the top of the top their. The metal work sometimes masks garryowens etc and the screen view is blocked... other than that, it's fine...

Lovely and close to the action on the near try line. The far end of the pitch is mostly guesswork as to where the play currently is.

Seats are too low and not steep enough. It's the same problem as the lower rows the whole way around the stadium.
