I wonder will are Boys in Blue follow suit with this?

A thief caught by a new police trap that turned his face bright green under ultraviolet light has been convicted of stealing from a car.
Yafet Askale, 28, was sprayed with an invisible dye when he broke into a "trap car" in Harlesden in northwest London in June.
Police traced him and found him holding items stolen from inside the vehicle, including a laptop computer.

The Germany / Sweden / UK are using "smart water" to deter copper thieves

it is an invisible paint that glows green under ultraviolet light. Equipped with special lamps, police and railway officials can recognize such designated stolen immediately. The paint will also find about 400 microns small platelets of nickel in which a number is engraved, which can only be read under a microscope. Each track section of the track is secured with a different code. Is stored in a database which code belongs to which section of the route network. Seized metal parts can be assigned to individual crime scenes.

You can also get sprays with DNA , and again that's traceable back to the site.

It's like the way high end cars have microdots scattered around then so parts from stripped cars can be traced.

I'd prefer a mine, but explosive boobytraps are apparently not "legal" meh
