People that don't pay!!!

Why do people make offers and then never follow through! Its SOOOO annoying! Especially the ones that hound for extra information and then i never hear from them again once they place an offer.

Or actually worse, the people that claim to have sent payment, it never turns up and they never respond.

Do people get a kick from time wasting or what is their aim?

I very rarely leave negative feedback.... Maybe I should start doing it though.

    nice Rant

you get used to it, it just takes time and you eventually learn to weed out those muppets before they waste too much of your time.

as for the bad feedback i dont think i've left any myself but i'm seriously contemplating it for sellers who only leave feedback after you've left it for them. if i buy something and pay for it up front and on time then i should recieve good feedback for holding up my side of the agreement but alot more sellers now wait to see what feedback you leave them before responding (ebay i'm talking about) it really grinds my gears:mad:

Ebay sellers normally don't leave feedback until they receive it as they don't know if the items has arrived safely until the buyer leaves feedback.

I know it was a huge rant that was building up with a while. I'm buying/selling online with years. Its just everyone seems to wasting time lately.

I have to admit, i'm guilty of leaving feedback after the other person. That is mainly because i only think of it when the other person does it.

I'm def going to start being more harsh with timewasters! They're going down haha.

i realise that what is happening but thats not how its supposed to work.

if you buy something and pay up front your side of the deal is done and you should recieve feedback on your performance in holding up your side of the purchase.

if the item doesnt arrive then the buyer contacts the seller and discuss what to do next once the item arrives and the buyer is happy then they leave feedback on the sellers performance.

as a sell if i get paid upfront i immediately leave good feedback as i could not expect anymore from a good seller.

Just looking at my eBay front page , and I have 30 items sold going back to 13th August , and only 5 buyers have bothered to leave feedback.

I always leave the buyer feedback immediately after receiving payment.

I always use 'buy it now ' because I noticed at auction that the winner , is usually slow to pay .

I don't understand why you would leave the buyer feedback immediately after payment as this leaves you open to them claiming that they never received the goods.

I always leave feedback thanking them for quick payment .

All my buyers are in Ireland , and I have never had a claim for non-delivery.

What I sell is mainly cheap items , and happy to see a sale .

But disappointed that I seldom receive feedback.

But thats eBay , and now back to the thread , - I always found Done-deal and Adverts to be full of time wasters .

how would not leaving feedback change that?

It would'nt change that , but once you leave feedback , it cannot be changed , so it could be argued that one type of strategy would be that seller holds his feedback until you are sure the buyer received item .

If buyer claims non-delivery , you can at least hit them with negative feedback as some consolation .

But at the end of the day , its well documented that negative feedback means nothing to buyers .

But is most important to sellers .

Ebay sellers cannot leave negative feedback for buyers. Ebay removed the feature back in 2008. At least that was the case when I was selling roughly a year ago.

You have to tick the positive box , but can still leave a negative comment

You have to tick the positive box , but can still leave a negative comment

Which will be removed by ebay and cause you to have a mark on your account as it is a violation of ebay's terms.

This is not true , and would only happen if someone reports your comment to eBay.

You don't have to leave a stinker of a negative comment , but just enough to warn other potential sellers about the behaviour of a time waster.

Yes it is true. I don't know about you but if someone left me a negative the first thing I would do is report it.

Also, when I was investigating this myself a while back it turns out if a user reports it as it is a violation of the terms of use the feedback is removed but the user gets to keep the positive feedback as a +1 in his score.

    Edit:

    To reinforce this: http://pages.ebay.com/help/policies/feedback-removal.html

Click "Feedback comments containing inappropriate content." and have a look about half way down:
Negative Feedback comments that directly contradict a positive rating. (When the comment is posted by the seller. This type of contradictory comment is not removable when left by the buyer.)

That ebay page tells you that this type of comment may be removed . - And I know for a fact that the comments are not removed unless reported to eBay.

Now read further down and you will see the type of comments that are NOT removed :
This type of Feedback comment isn't removed:

Feedback comments containing accusatory language such as "fraud," "liar," "cheater," "scam artist," or "con man."
Although this type of comment is strongly discouraged, it isn't removed unless it also contains content that isn't allowed.

Ofcourse they are not going to be removed without a report. But the feedback is goign to be reported in at least 80% of cases.

I think you should read the quote you posted again

By placing a negative comment in the guise of a positive comment you have already broken the terms and the comment will be removed and your account will have a mark against it.
