I'm looking for a good quality jacket and trousers with removable lining. Can anyone recommend a shop either online or bricks and mortar (in Dublin) where good value can be found?

    Thanks

get great deals from these guys regularly, also will refund no questions asked. Recently sent back the winter gloves i bought about 14 months ago, the velcro on the wrists were no longer sticking, received refund as soon as they got the gloves back.

Been to Cotters a few times lately, and imho, some of their stuff is cheaper than buying on the Web - plus you get to try it on.

Wouldn't recommend getting stuff online, you really need to try stuff on.

If you are buying online, try on the exact make of gear you are getting in a shop first to get your correct size in that particular brand.

Depends what you are looking for, is it textiles or leathers?

Deffo need to try stuff on especially a helmet, you cant "wing it" on that. I can highly recommend the RST stuff both leathers and textiles, and dare I say it Bikeworld are the cheapest around (if still doing the 5% off each item) I went to the north too and they were still cheaper.

    Thanks Everyone,
Can you get good quality textile jackets and trousers, with armour in cotters, cant seem to see them on their website?

If not was going to try - http://www.thevisorshop.com in Newry.

Would cotters have jackets similar to these ? - http://www.thevisorshop.com/acatalog/Spada_Clothing.html#a14912

Another vote for Cotters, great value to be had there.

The thing with cotters is you never know what EXACTLY they will have. You can be lucky and get a matching set and you might not be....be aware all the same. I will get hammered for saying this but its the truth, they sell alot of 2nd's stuff. Boots, gloves and the like are not 100% sometimes. That they buy in bulk....which is fair enough just be aware.

Happened to a good friend of mine bought a pair of TCX boots for a good price, upon closer inspection the uppers were not identical and the soles were completely different. Turns out they were same model but different manufacture dates (this came from the TCX rep in a different shop) who replaced them for new pair.

Yes, but they tend to sell Richa and Buffalo. Crossans in the north do not stock alot of the stuff online and would need to get it in also. Been up there so many times and the stock levels can be low.....

Well worth a spin up for a look all the same.....and also Hein Gericke in Belfast which is only another 25mins up the road.

More than likely in Cotter's it's customers mixing up items. He buys in bulk, not seconds, so it could also be mismatched when he gets it. The way he puts his stock out doesn't help.

Any gear I've got there that I've had a problem with has been changed with no problems. They even email you your invoice if you give them your email, no more looking for receipts.

I have to be honest about it, but Bike World is the shop I go to first and I've had some great deals off them in the past.

Also in the past I've asked about tires and they've sent me straight to Cotters and advised me that Cotters would be cheaper.

Btw, I've been wearing my RST Slice pants which I bought at the last RDS Bikeshow ~ and they're completely rubbish, they leak like fu*ck

Jaysus very surprised at that, I have the RST Splice leathers and have been out in all weathers and no leaks, then again it was for no more then a couple of hours.

Leathers are not waterproof anyway, but they should give a certain amount of protection.

I got a pair of RST Slice Sport textile pants and I've had no leaks in them over the last few weeks

Have you got the winter lining in or out of them?.

I took it out for the summer and since then they've let rain in behind my knee's ~ I'm disappointed as they were bought to replace some old Lidl pants I'd gotten a few years ago, which never leaked!.

Hein Gericke stuff is top quality and top $$$ too but it lasts the tests of time. Try bike world/megabikes for brands and sizes and then have a look online for it cheaper.

Cotters is always great for a deal, if it can be found though!

+1 For Cotters, I've bought lots of gear in there at cheaper prices than anywhere else. If you know your sizes pretty well, try out adverts.ie too, some great gear up for sale on it at a fraction of the price when new.

No lining in with them at the moment. Don't usually wear thermal lining on my pants. Find it makes them too bulky.
