Why? It's a begging c'unt, not a mate you owe a few quid to or an ex you want to pretend not to have seen as you walked past. Why avoid eye contact? You sound like you might actually give them money if they see you. If everyone told them to **** off the country might be rid of them.

Where are native big issue sellers gone anyway?

    Daily Mail..... Enough said

It was so much easier to blame it on Them. It was bleakly depressing to think that They were Us. If it was Them, then nothing was anyone's fault. If it was us, what did that make Me? After all, I'm one of Us. I must be. I've certainly never thought of myself as one of Them. No one ever thinks of themselves as one of Them. We're always one of Us. It's Them that do the bad things.

I have 2 roma families living near me. One is good and the other not so. THe one thing we noticed, they have a constant flow of kids coming to live with them. WE talked to one of the other kids who told us, they come in from Romania , if they dont grasp English or are not able to provide anything to the family such as begging or getting a job, they send them back to Romania :(

OK. Why not get the gist of the story? I bet Jesus is glad that you weren't around when he was telling the parables.

Can you explain what you perceive as discriminatory in The Mail as opposed to other papers that carry the same story?

The Daily Mail has the highest internet readership of any paper, so what I think it's detractors are saying is, that those readers have not attained the lofty standards of intellectual sophistication that they deem themselves to have.
Some stories are tongue-in-cheek and these should be understood to be so, by anyone that has the basic ability to see a joke.

I could mention Chamberlain's and the Munich Agreement peace for our time jazz but won't. Don't want to embarrass appeasing types.

There is a codicil. Try reading it.
Take, for instance, Ireland and the UK. Why do you have to show passports at passport control? On the continent you just need ID.

This rubbish story for a start. Take a look at the vile shît they posted when the Bulgarians and Romanians were allowed travel throughout the EU. Or go back to what they used to write about the Irish or if you want a good laugh go back to what they used to say about Hiltler and Britan.

One of the reasons it has high readership is because you now have to pay for the Sun. The mirror isn't worth a ****. Hours of dumbed down nonsense in the rag. It's not good enough to let my little puppies piss on.

Back in your box son and kop the fock on.

Christ, they're just people. People who are marginalised. Is it right to want to slaughter any group of people just because they didn't get with the program and were too slow to change their ways when the powerful moved in? People like the Roma, Kurds, aborigines, maoris, apaches, etc?

Because if they hold Romanian passports they are Romanian first - Roma second ,
just like an Irish traveler is Irish first and a Traveler second.

that is why they get thrown in with the settled Romanians

Have you ever noticed in the British press when travelers cause trouble they are referred to as "Irish" , yet they could 3 generations removed from Ireland , having lived all their lives in England and hold British passports.

so - you cant blame the Romanian people for the Roma , but they are the responsibility of Romania until they rescind their citizenship.

They dont all hold Romanian passports though. They are scattered throughout all the 3 countries I mentioned previously. People just see Roma and Romania and come up with something straight from their arse.

I will say this though. I know many normal people from Hungary, Romania and Bulgaria and they are all pretty quick to distant themselves from the Roma people and say pretty nasty stuff about them.

Ross Kemp done one of his many documentaries on them, worth a look for someone that interested. All mad tribal stuff going on.

yea i agree , but as in the previous thread here about a month ago , a link was posted proving the majority of Roma in Ireland come from Romania , so in fairness statistically you would be right stating that they come from Romania, becasue the majority do

you are legally the citizen of the nation where your your passport is issued , your ethnic background does not come into your legal status

but your ethnic background certainly does when it comes to random racism
akin to the " i feckin hate Irish pikeys" you hear over in the UK , the Irony is they are mostly British citizens born in england

That (most likely) had absolutely nothing to do with her being Roma, that had something to do with the perpetrator being a sick perverted scumbag. She just happened to be available, could have been anyone.

So yes, terrible crime, BUT, nothing to do with racism or hate towards roma.

My experiences with them are generally negative -a few ones are grand, they're still people at the end of the day. However, I think the bad ones of them would push someone down a stairs for a few euro. These seem more common than in any other denominations of groupings except for one which they bear striking similarities with (I think you could guess what denomination Im thinking of here). I couldn't care less about free movement of people other than overpopulation(ie. if 2 million people moved here tomorrow we'd be fecd) but with this crowd I would prefer if we restricted their numbers, and if they are found to be engaged in illegal activites they should be very quickly removed from the country. Leave people in who want to be here to make a better life for themselves by engaging in society not contribute negatively to it. Im sure there are many Roma that are more than fine but again you have to find the ones want to be here for the right reasons.

One of the worst things I have encountered as far as Roma beggars go is that they operate begging like a business and divide the territory and are inclined to gang up on any others who are begging in a specific area. There are genuine people who are begging for their next meal and they are being forced out of areas by Roma. If you don't believe me find an area where they beg a lot and they will meet up early in the morning to plan out the day and their areas picked for the day.

You'd have no problem sending "problem" people back where they could be slaughtered though. How many Iraqis have Ireland taken in to shelter and protect from sectarian carnage? We did after all allow US bombers and troops to refuel and pass through Shannon on their way to mashing these poor fcukers to rags, despite our oh so lauded neutrality. So when an Iraqi Kurdish family arrives on our doorstep begging for help we'll do one of 3 things....call him and his wife and kids a scumbag scammer, scream that he's takin' oooor jeeerbs or a combo of a bunch of other crap including the former and latter.

Unfortunate side stepping of my point actually.

Haven't we all heard of the Roma being spat at and kicked and manhandled here in Dublin. I certainly have, and have unfortunately personally witnessed it.

I am not saying for one second that everybody is innocent here, but what I am saying, and what is being conveniently side stepped is the very unsavory mob mentality that this ethnic group seem to invoke. Am I to think that we subscribe to, in this case, selective ethnic cleansing towards the Roma?

In my opinion, this poor little girl was brutally, savagely, murdered: “her teeth were ripped out” and having read many of the related reports on this heinous attack it led me to believe that the warped perpetrators felt her life was of absolutely no value. Threads like this imo, as I said, only give oxygen to these gruesome notions. It is not clear to me what other role they actually play.
