    Hi all,
I am currently painting my newly built house. We have painted one coat of watered down white emulsion as a base coat. Do we now paint our chosen colours over this? How many coats? 1 or 2? Or should we do another coat of white and then one coat of colour? Just wondering what would be the better option. Thanks for all help.

Are the walls drylined? On block walls you're better off putting some acrylic through the paint first. Depending on colours 2 coats will be enough. Darker colours may require additional costs

Also will we get away with just 2 coats of white on the ceilings as opposed to 3?

Two coats on the walls and ceilings. There is no need to thin out the paint.

If you use a good quality paint yes

You thin the first coat down on new plaster then a minimum of 2 coats of your chosen colour.
