Which is the better laptop?

    Hi I'm just looking for advice on which is the better laptop. HP pavilion icore 5 processor 750MB or a Sony Vaio icore 5 processor 1TB. The Sony is a bit more expensive but is the HP pavalion a newer generation laptop and a better laptop than the sony. If i buy the sony would i just be paying for the Sony name? Both laptops are a similar price, Sony a bit more expensive? Any advice on both laptops?
