Does the rain make some drivers extra cranky?

There I was, walking home, having done a lap of the town for the messages. It's only a soft day, but it'd dampen you in no time. There's cars playing dodgems, sitting on yellow boxes, klaxons roaring at each other. It's warm enough for the windows to be open, so I hear lots of curses within. I had to leg it across the street when the green man was on because some driver couldn't wait any longer to turn a corner.

My drenched pedestrian head doesn't get it. Drivers have shelter, a radio, an alibi, an excuse to be late because the traffic is bad. Why not have a oul daydream, sing along to the radio, play dashboard piano to the wipers' metronome? Is it really worse in a car when it's raining?

People don't like waiting. They get angry when a clip buffers for a few seconds when they watch something on the internet. Think it's something to do with evolution? Cold makes us shiver. Running makes us tired. Waiting makes us angry.

Rain makes more traffic. Which means more waiting. I normally don't mind sitting in traffic in the rain. I find it quite cosy. But if I have somewhere to be, rainy traffic can be a huge pain in the arse.

No, 'cause when in Rome and all that -I'd be buzzing around in a fiat punto like a demented bee. :)

I like being stuck in traffic. Especially when it's raining heavily. There's something very relaxing about sitting in a comfortable car with the rain hammering down on the roof. And it's also an opportunity to be completely idle without needing to feel guilty about it.

Pedestrians and cyclists tend to act a bit dafter in wet weather too, as they're in more of a hurry to get where they're going.

The only thing I've noticed is that the average speed for car drivers goes from 20mph in dry weather down to 10mph when it's raining out.

And acceleration is something like 0-20 in 15 seconds.

Irish drivers are afraid of wet roads.

Lots more traffic on wet days. People giving lifts too so longer journeys and stuff.

So yeah people are extra cranky what with being late and all
