Which generation of processor?

My PC is a bit out dated at this stage so I'm going to go for a new processor and motherboard. Ideally I want it for playing high end games. As a result I'll be going with a 3570k or a 4570k, so my question is which processor? Then which motherboard would best fit this for overclocking. The cooler I would be going for is the corsair h80.
So any recommendations in terms of 3XXX vs 4XXX?

As long as you get the high end of the series I doubt you'll notice too much difference.

Im on a 2500k and maxing games without overclocking.

I'd say get whichever is cheaper maybe skip the H80 (some people say they are quite loud) get a Hyper 212 Evo and put more money into your graphics.

Rocking a 7970 at the moment and I'm rather happy with it, must go look into that Hyper 212, thanks for the advice.

Might as well grab the 4670k. Pretty much any socket 1150 Z87 board will net you good overclocks with a 212 evo. I'd expect around 4.4 - 4.5hz.
