CO2 systems

Hi all,

I am taking the plunge and purchasing a CO2 system to augment my mini pump for commuting.

I am not that familiar with them so could some of you using them let me know what you are using or what you recommend. The smaller the better..

I have seen loads online but would like input from someone who uses a particular one.

There seems to be 2 types. A completely self contained one or one where you simply put an adapter over the valve and then screw the bottle onto it.

I use the older version of this one and it works really well. I also have one of the adapters that screw directly onto the the cartridge and it's fine but a bit more "fiddly" and feels more likely to lead to a wasted cartridge!

A friend of mine had a puncture and had no pump (thankfully, we would have been there forever).
I whipped out one of my cartridges and a simple little adapter you put over the top of the cartridge.
The new tube inflated in 5 seconds.

It's really tiny and lightweight in the saddle bag.

I had a go with one of the bigger CO2 adapter things (similar to this),
but it exploded into bits as some malfunction happened.
So personally I'd stay away fom the adapters you put the cartridge inside - you don't need them, and they explode :eek:

I use a Mosa mini inflator which is really handy. Screw in the cartridge, press onto valve to inflate, release to stop inflating. No messing around with screw valves or screwing out and in the cartridge. Only trouble is shipping is expensive as they have to go by courier (air-freight not allowed so they can't use standard post) but you'd get it for the same price as the Microflate Nano. Add a box of 10 cartridges and you have inflator plus 12 cartridges for the same price you'd pay for the microflate plus 4 cartridges.
