Mods: Hope this is ok to post.

Just came across Facebook claims by a local security in Cork

    Posted 11 hours ago.
STRANGER DANGER!!! carrigtwohill... two men went up to a house in a housing estate last week when the father had just left for work, the mum was upstairs in the shower and the two little kids aged 4 and 1 were downstairs watching tv, the two men were talking through the glass panel at the side of the door and telling the kids to open the door that they had already spoke to their mum and she said it was ok for the kids to let the men in....... the kids eventually started crying and the mum came down and the men ran and took off in a van... please lock your doors and warn your children about stranger danger and share this with everyone you know.

With the sick ordeal in Athlone it does not take long for people to take advantage of.
I have rang the local Garda station in Cobh and Carrigtwohill and they are unaware of any such incident.

Edit: IMO It seems to me that this company have used the story in Athlone to possibly raise their profile in their local area.

What sick ordeal in Athlone? (this is in reference to the people that believe three men were involved)

Two people have been released without charge - http://www.irishtimes.com/news/crime-and-law/release-without-charge-for-two-held-over-athlone-attack-1.1544828

People need to stop jumping to conclusions, wanting people killed/castrated and leave the Gardai do their job.

Like it or not people, we have a justice system where people are innocent until proven guilty. Yet mobs of people wanted all three of them men castrated yesterday. If you ask me, thats also a sickening aspect of society.

Now if the remaining third man is charged then thats fine and then our justice system can run its course and the Gardai can do their job, but until then people need to stop this mob mentality ****e.

ps: You need to stop believing everything you read on facebook as fact/real,

I could be wrong, but this story does not add up.......the fact that there were 3 men involved does not ring true!

One man still held, children went through a sickening ordeal garda have told us, and they are still in hospital.

Does there have to be more than one for it to become a sick ordeal for a six and nine year old?

I agree totally with justice and getting full facts from all parties and at no stage did I "jump to conclusions" but a few hours after the story this security firm concocted a story to put fear into people, and for what?
I believe to make business for themselves.

Once proven guilty they should be on a register & community groups schools, creshes ect should be informed of their location and movments....for life......this (I believe) may have helped in athlone.

Stick to the facts, hysteria isn't helpful in such a situation.
You know nothing about the one remaining man, you don't even know if he's previously done anything.

So how exactly can you claim it might have helped in Athlone?

Yes, I'd agree if a crime has been committed then for people found guilty then checks of some sort need to be put in place. However, these need to be well thoughtout and more importantly they need to be workable to implement.

it kind of mirrors that movie thats out now called Prisoners in which the whole vigilante aspect of society is portrayed

What is this security company and how do they come into it?

They are house alarm installers in Cork.

I didn't want to post their names as I am not sure of the rules, but to me its a cheep tactic to generate possible interest in their business ie. advertising.

If they are advertising on facebook then they have no right to privacy in my eyes. We are not accusing them of being involved in the alleged incident are we?

They've not committed any sexual offense previously
Justice Minister Alan Shatter has said there’s no truth in reports that any of the men detained had a previous conviction for sexual offences.

But he wasn't in jail for any reason that would mark him as a threat in this respect, which is something that has just been clarified by the minister for justice, so tis not speculation or hearsay.

There's little point to having a thread on this tbh. We won't be naming the security company and discussion has already veered toward the Athlone incident which there is already a thread about.
