    Hi
just wondering about changing the groupset on my old bike to a triple. What type BB is required is it just a straight eng / ita type or a different type altogether? im new to this but was going to have it as a bit of a project over the next while. Was thinking of getting a 105 groupset and treating it as a learning experience or should i get the lbs to do it?

A compact (50/34) double fitted with a 28/11 will give you almost the same ratios as a triple.

What does the 1.2 have at present?

It has a fsa vero 50/34 crank and a sram pg950 11/26 cassette 9 speed. will any crank fit on its bottom bracket. i think theres a good deal on a 105 crank on merlin cycles

I'm not sure if you can mix sram and shimano. Presumably the 105 is 10 speed? And fitting a triple will also entail a new FD. Could you not just fit a 28/11 - are they available in 9 speed?? I'm open to correction on all this! :o

dont know myself. would you not need new shifters for a triple aswel? ok so if i forget about the triple and go with the 11 / 28 cassette 10speed il get the same range?
