Recommend a heavy driver?

    One for the lazy web.

    I've been playing with a Superfast 2.0 for the past year and my driving has been appalling. I've self diagnosed the problem as stemming from the club head being too light, as no matter how hard I try, I intuitively swing it too hard. Nothing like how I swing the rest of the bag.

    Can anyone point me in the direction of a properly heavy driver, this year's model or last?

    I use the Callaway Razr Fit (2012 model) and it definitely feels heavier than most drivers. Maybe give that a try.

    Hi,
    Generally its the shaft that's lighter and not the Head. Most Taylormade R11 R1 have removable weights so you can make them heavier.

    Although maybe not the heaviest idk, but the Titleist 910 d2 will be up there in weight with the modern branded models to answer your question.

    The shaft on it can be customised weight wise afterwards on that model too. It's the head weight to which I'm referring.

    Why not go to a pro and get diagnosed by somebody paid to do so?

    Not being smart - but you could spend hundreds of euro on a false diagnosis.

    Because that would make too much sense and sounds too much like hard work, plus you wouldn't get the "high" from buying new stuff.

    I'm in the same boat OP, have the exact same club and my driving is woeful, borrowed a set of clubs from a friend and inadvertantly used the Nike SQ Dymo, really liked it, tried it out a few times in the range and felt alot more comfortable. That being said I plan on getting a lesson next week and having the pro analyze and advise anything major.

    I'm as far removed from an equipment fanatic as you'll get.I'm not sure if I've ever actually replaced a functional club in my life!

    The pro would have good craic with me and my one left, one right, one very right, one very left routine. Which, oddly, doesn't happen with any other club.

    Just thinking back, whenever i found myself trying to swing too fast, it was generally because I couldn't get the feeling of 'loading' on the shaft at the top of the backswing.

    simply put, the shaft was too stiff for the weight and swing.

    Its always a combo of shaft stiffness, weight and swing tempo.
