    Hi
Has anyone any suggestions please. I have gas heating system. The heating works fine but I can't heat the water without the radiators coming on aswell.
I have the 2 thermostats set to zero but the rads still come on. I have 3 myson power extra valves in the hot press. One of them is constantly on and the other 2, the light comes on and off on them as I switch the thermostats to zero. Someone told me that these valves are my problem. Any ideas?

I suspect this would be better placed in the heating and plumbing forum..if you pm one of the mods they will move it for you.

At the bottom of the webpage it shows the mods listed in the bottom right. Victor and The_Conductor are the mods for this forum.

Either turn off the valves on the radiators to stop them filling with hot water or, if you don't want to do it individually, look near your tank and see if there is a cut off valve for the radiator system (might be labelled summer cut off valve).

This really is one for Accom & Property; it's not really plumbing.

It's just been moved from accom and property. There is no summer valve on the system.

Yes- it sounds like the valves are the issue. I've a similar heating system here- no issue with it though- I have a pump that comes on when the rads are supposed to be heated (the water itself doesn't have a pump involved, for whatever reason).

Any plumber worth his salt should be able to diagnose and resolve this for you. No idea what it might cost though........

A friend of mine told me it has to be those valves. I suppose just cause tere lighting up doesn't mean they are working properly

Get a plumber to look at them (or a heating specialist). There is no point in you, me- or your friend, in poking around- you'd have the place flooded before you knew what happened..........

    That's true :) thanks

Either your motorised valves are passing ( as in not closed fully ) or your system is not pipes correctly. The 3 T rule. From the boiler to the zones, zone 1 must be hot water, then heating zone 2 and 3

What part of the country are you in? Plenty of good guys I could reccomend from around

Is it possible that the valves would still light up and not fully close? I'm in cork, I like trying to figure things out myself :)

Yes it's quite possible. Sludge or debris could leave the valves stuck open. Pm scudo2. I think sullz is from cork too

Just search for the names. When you see their names just click on it. It'll give you a PM option
