Think it's on the red button from 12.15. Before then there is text coverage on the BBC and twitter feeds (The CI one should be up to date on the Irish guys - they were in the womens race yesterday)

EDIT - it's 12.30 for the BBC Red Button coverage

    Good preview here

Weather forecast is quite poor. Thunder showers 95% chance of heavy rain at times.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,104 ✭✭✭morana

its heavy rain on the run into the circuit but seems to be stopped on the circuit

Looks pretty wet out there already.

Yonder Godoy (Venezuela), Matthias Brandle (Austria), Jan Barta (Czech Republic), Bartosz Huzarski (Poland) and Rafaa Chtioui (Tunisia) in the break. Gap of almost 5 minutes presently. Team GB pacing the peloton.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 14,526 ✭✭✭✭Darkglasses

Another group of 5 trying to bridge across to the breakaway. Rain macs everywhere so hard to make out the numbers, but definitely one Slovakian rider.

There's live coverage right now on the UCI YouTube channel.

lots of segnale interrotto on rai so you might not see a lot..

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 14,526 ✭✭✭✭Darkglasses

We have our first man down. Kanstantsin Siutsou, he's up and walking. No team-mates to pace him back up, being the only Belarus rider.

222km to go, gap to the breakaway is over 7 minutes.

YouTube Says not available in my country. Ireland.

How are others getting it to work?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,153 ✭✭✭Glass Prison 1214

Anyone think John Degenkolb has an outside chance? he is a decent classic rider who can climb and sprint.

It also didn't work for me when I was Irish, British, or from the U.S.
Now that I'm Italian, it's coming through fine. ;)

Damm Mcquaid has to be his fault, blocking the Irish.

Cav seems to be doing a lot of work at the front of the peloton.

Those who can see it seem to be viewing via overseas internet connections

There are no broadcasting rights in Ireland. Don't know on what basis they are distributed. Maybe someone has to pay a licence fee to the UCI? If so perhaps CI thought there were better things it could do with its limited resources

    This.

I can't give specific details without falling foul of the site rules, but, as far as most of the internet is concerned, I'm currently in Italy ;)

Is it against site rules <Snip> yes - it's against site rules to provide information on how to circumvent copyright laws

Jesus the weather is absolutely mank....... Wiggo could be in trouble on the descents! :pac:

Broadcasting rights must have been granted during McQuaid's tenure - the weather's Cookson's responsibility though :pac:

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 8,570 ✭✭✭Rovi

    And they're on the climb.

This'll be interesting in these weather conditions, and the descent will be spooky!

Some big names in a group dropping off the back of the peloton: Wiggins, Voeckler, Porte...

That split happened on the first descent I think. No radios in the worlds so team gb wouldn't have known wiggo was off the back before it was too late.

Our boys look like they are in a safe place atm

  • Administrators, Social & Fun Moderators, Sports Moderators Posts: 78,456 Admin ✭✭✭✭✭Beasty

Boardman says on BBC that Race Radio is reporting the Team GB car has been called to the back of the peloton - perhaps a problem for Wiggins?

They are also reporting Contador fell but was back up quickly

Martin mixing it up with the Italians in the peleton. No sign of the others in the front group :(

Are we allowed give any general, lests say non-specific, advice to anyone looking to see the race? I'm currently watching it so just looking to give someone a hand.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 8,570 ✭✭✭Rovi

It's available on the BBC Red Button now!

Obviously not. I had a post deleted for mentioning the internet browser I use.

I understand why the rules are there, but surely mentioning your internet browser isn't a breach of them.

BBC Red Button is the only current option in Ireland (will be on BBC 2 and BBC 1 later)

I'd say Cav dropping out was probably in 'The Plan', he did a huge pull at the front for the first part of the race.
