So I am going out with my gf for 5 years in a few weeks and I have booked is in a hotel in St Stephens Green for two night (just back from NYC) so didn't want to fly again so soon and I really want to show her a romantic time.

I have organised champagne for when we arrive but I really want to bring her to great restaurants and make her feel special. All ideas welcome........restsurants (gluten free tho) / night life / things to do during the days etc....

    There's a chain of 5* chinese restaurants called Charlie's. I bet she'd love that..

I was in there one night and Bono was sitting with another guy and when Bono went to the toilet we asked the other guy would he get Bono's autograph for us. He did and then at the end of the night as we went to pay our bill, the waiter said: "That's okay, Mr.Springfield has taken care of that".

Turns out the other guy was Rick Springfield, who sang Jessie's Girl. We have since told this to lots of people who for some reason have stolen it and keep pawning it off as their own, saying that it wasn't Rick at all, but Bruce Springsteen. The cheek of people to be making up shit.

"Should of" makes no sense. It should be "Should HAVE" or "Should've". Schoolboy error ;)

37 Dawson Street is a nice bar close to your hotel, the window seat is great for people watching. Just don't go Friday after work time.

I personally think that afternoon tea in The Lord Mayor's Lounge in the Shelbourne is a lovely romantic thing to do too.

Lots of cafés and boutiques around the Powerscourt Centre/South William Street/Castle Market area.

Afaik the only Michelein Star restaurant in the area is Patrick Guilbauds. Very fancy. Shanahans is a classic but very steak orientated. The Counter Burger place on Suffolk Street is good as is Avoca Cafe across the road.

Guinness Storehouse has a great view.

Ffs stay away from Temple Bar in the evening- it's a nightmare. The Stags Head, Grogans, Brogans are good pubs in the general area. Walk around Trinity, Merrion Square, Stephen's Green, Iveagh Gardens. The National Gallery is worth a look as is the Hugh Lane.

This is actually making me quite homesick :( Have a great anniversary OP!

Was talking to an Aussie girl last week who was in Dublin for 3 days. She said it was the worst city on her trip and couldn't get over the amount of junkies around. She was mainly around temple bar so stay away from there.

And if you can, go outside Dublin.

Get a box of wedges and a couple of sausage rolls from Spar and take a romantic walk along the boardwalk.

Iskanders on Dame Street does some delightful ethnic food.

Also, if your coming up from the country and your gf finds that some of above mentioned eateries are not suitable there's a Supermacs across on O'Connell St where you can get the old reliables such as a Shnack Box and Shmokey Bacon Burger.
