Bit the bullet and bought a bike, so have spd pedals in my basket, any recommendations on shoes? Planning racing and commuting on it, have spd sl road shoes/pedals for road bike. Currently have northwave shoes so nice wide fit suit me.
Anyone seen any shops in Dublin with specials going for MTB shoes? Or online bargains?

Downhill/all mountain spd shoes tend to be quite chunky.

Chain Reaction usually always have cheap mtb shoes. I got Gaernes on sale, comfy, not too stiff, easy to wash (you will be doing lots of this over the winter). Use them for racing and commuting. Make sure the shoes you get can take studs.

A couple of people do, but that would be folk who are very new to cycling. SPD style system is the way to go.
