You can hate me all you want if it means I get a seat in the Senate and €60k per annum plus expenses !

So the worst thing you can think of doing to someone is giving them 100k a year to participate in a talking shop?

    Imagination please

Kevin Myers is alright actually i like the fact he doesn't follow the media trends, and has an opinion all of his own,no matter how unpalatable. He is refreshing and speaks his mind and the truth.

I could make them listen to Rachel Allen's voice on a continuous loop?

    Aah, y'see now you're thinking.

No i don't think he is desperate to be part of the media trends,he is no troll he only speaks on issues of great public importance or issues that are close to his heart.

If youre thinking trolls think john waters, and pat kenny eamon dunphy etc, etc..

    Amanda Brunker
    Fiona Looney
    Louis Walsh
    Pee Flynn
    Ronan Keating
    And last but not least.....
    Davy Fitzgerald.
But we don't need them in the Seanad to hate them.
    We hate them anyway!!

Any fool can speak their mind, but it takes a special kind of fool to take what they're saying as 'truth'

He comes across as hating women, blacks, gays, the Irish in many of his diatribes ... seems like a traditionalist enough stance for a wealthy old privileged white guy... 'not following trends' my arse. He's stuck in the nifty trends of the 50's :pac:

If your opinion ever became the accepted fact then Kevin Myers would disagree with you!

He doesn't conform and i like that about him,i don't think he hates women or blacks or gays, whatever would give you that impression of him..

He has made some good points about the troubles over the years, and there was a lot of sympathy amongst the irish with the IRA,i think he has made some fair points over the years about overpopulation and immigration.

Just because he doesn't follow the main consensus doesn't mean he should be consigned to the trends of the 50's

Just because it is fashionable to be of a certain opinion doesn't mean you shouldn't question it..

I like most of our Senators

Zappone and Bacik and Norris and Crown are brilliant

It was so much easier to blame it on Them. It was bleakly depressing to think that They were Us. If it was Them, then nothing was anyone's fault. If it was us, what did that make Me? After all, I'm one of Us. I must be. I've certainly never thought of myself as one of Them. No one ever thinks of themselves as one of Them. We're always one of Us. It's Them that do the bad things.

The concept of an upper house is inherently a good thing.

Just because it currently has awful issues (university elections and FF cronyism) , we should not throw out the baby with the bathwater and alter our constitution

He might speak his mind but he certainly doesn't speak the truth.
