how do I know if I blew my speaker?

I've noticed lately that low tones (like a deep bass) seems to distort a little at moderate to high volumes, I get a kind of grinding noise or something.

What I'm more worried about though is that maybe it's my receiver. I had a set of floor standers which developed the same problem on one channel.

    Any way to test?

You need to supply more info.

If these are separate speakers from the receiver(?) and you are able to swap the connections over (L&R) and if the problem follows the speaker, it's the speaker that is faulty.

Without more info, it's impossible to answer.
