I just got a new 1TB harddrive to add to my RAID0 array. (I use mismatched HDDs never had an issue before but just ordered 2x 1TB 7200.14s so will be using matched drives going forward). My 7200.12 took that exact moment to die on me. I'd moved it out of a caddy into a drive cage and admittedly it was getting warm in it's new home. To be fair it had a SMART warning on it for a while.

So I stick in 2 x Seagate pipeline2 to hold stuff until the new drives arrive and instantly I've a SMART warning on one of those. They aren't getting hot. Am I just unlucky today or might I have an issue with the SATA controller or something?

PS I know Seagate are about a reliable as Dublin Bus so no need to cover that off :D
