To the re-regs on here who have previously closed an account, why did you close it?

I'm kind of curious as to people's reasons for doing this.

I don't think i'll ever close this account. I'd kind of miss it if i did. So i can't understand why a lot of posters seem to be doing it these days.

So to the posters who have closed an account, what made you close it?

I'd say flouncing off after a tiff with the mods would rank highly. Then thinking better of it the next day.

You know you can change it, right?

I can understand that people would want a fresh start. But these people probably wouldn't answer here for fear of having their former account known.

I'd never close my account as I'm proud of my join date. Lets me look down on the rest of you young whippersnappers.

I could be wrong but i'm sure it's possible to change your username without needing to close an account.

Lots of people don't want to buy a subscription though, and that's what you do to change your name. I might subscribe and change mine again, I get bored easily :o

Yeah, but then I'd end up missing this one. So I'll stick with it for a while.

I made a post that wasn't received very well and I was mad at myself for writing it. Closed my account straight after.

Stayed off boards for a few months till I re-regged with this name.

Ah fair enough. I suppose some people just don't feel attached anough to their account to merit paying a fiver though

Inadvertently revealing something that makes you personally identifiable would be a big reason, I'd think.

Was there many members to chat with in 1999?

    I grew up..a lot.

I stopped posting for a year and when I came back, I had a look at some of the immature posts I made with my previous account and knew I had to start afresh if I was ever going to post again.

I was in no way a troll, it was a younger, stupider version of me that I didn't like.

If you change your name by subscription it is still possible to link the user's old name - all it needs is an old quoted post.

    Love.
    Or hate.
    It was probably hate......

Blazing row with a poster I'm not a fan of on here and closed my account in a huff. Immediately regretted it and opened up a new one.
