So I'm coming back for an older post http://www.boards.ie/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=2057021743 and my budget was around 630 euro.So now I am able to get it up to 830 euro.

I would want to know is this build that I built good or bad? I am over paying for something I won't use and so on?

Will the motherboard be good for overclocking the CPU?
The RAM sticks are 2133mhz will that even make any difference? I know in gaming it won't but what about the rest of the things?

I think I will put those 8 cores into good use as I will be using Sony Vegas as my editing/rendering program. For my recording/screen capturing I will use Dxtory and it has such option where I can put the processing threads to 8 and for streaming I will be using Xsplit. There will be other programs that I will use but these are pretty much the basic ones.

I'd go for a xeon e3 over the 8350. Around the same price factoring in higher price for board, cpu cooler and psu for the 8350 with much higher single thread performance and slightly higher multi thread performance. Not to mention less than half the power consumption.

I'll knock up a build tomorrow.

BloodBath I don't know if you forgot about me,but if you have some spare time sometime can you build that Xeon build that you were talking about please.

    Thank you

Hey I forgot about this. €10 over budget but a better graphics card and processor in there.

If you have a look at this thread you can save some money on the order. You could use the money saved to upgrade the graphics card to the gigabyte windforce version for €12 more and grab a better cpu cooler that will run a bit cooler and quieter than the stock cooler. The xeon can't be overclocked but if noise is a factor you should consider it. It may be better to just put the money into a case upgrade though. The Nanoxia deep silence cases are great.

    Item|Price
    8GB Kingston HyperX blu. PC3-12800U CL10|€70.34
Samsung SSD 840 EVO Basic 120GB SATA 6Gb/s|€89.99
    WD Caviar Blue 1TB 6Gb's|€54.14

This looks very nice,I have just few questions I hope you can answers them. How much better will the Xeon be over the FX-8350? (In Percentage) and how well will it do in gaming? as gaming will be a big part in that PC to.

Thanks once again and I will post some pictures onto this thread once I get the parts and build it in November.

No problem. Here's some benchmarks comparing the 2. The 3770k is pretty much identical to the xeon linked in performance. The xeon is miles ahead in single thread and slightly better depending on the program in multithreaded applications. A highly overclocked 8350 might have slightly higher multi thread performance but it will also use over 200w of power compared to the 77w of the xeon.

I just seen the edit you did on your post.I know about Geuzhals.de I even said that I will be using it.

"I will be using Geizhals.de to lower the price of the build."

So I added Gigabyte GTX 760 WindForce,Cooler Master Hyper 212 Evo and the Nanoxia Deep Silence One Dark.

Total price is €916.96 including the shipping :)

I can drop the headset and get it later,But I think I will be able to get that €50 from somewhere. I'm very happy how this build turned out,It's for sure better than the one I built so thank you once again BloodBath you sure do know how to bring excitement and happiness to people well to me anyway =D

No bother. You could ditch the 212 evo and go for the headset if you wanted. You can always add a better cpu cooler later. The stock cooler probably won't be that audible inside of that case anyway.

Yeah that could be one thing that I could of done. But I just found out that I will be able to get that extra money for my build so it's all okay now.Just need to wait to get the rest of the money.

Okay so I will be ordering my parts on Monday or Tuesday I just need €120.

    Here's the Parts list:

    *Processor:Intel Xeon E3-1230v2 LGA1155

    *Memory:8GB Kingston HyperX black

    *Video Card:Gigabyte GeForce GTX 760

    *Motherboard:ASRock H77 Pro4/MVP Sockel 1155

*CPU Cooler:Cooler Master Hyper 212 EVO

    *SSD:Samsung SSD 840 EVO Basic 120GB

    *Hard Drive:WD Caviar Blue 1TB 6Gb's

    *Power Supply:Super-Flower Amazon 80Plus 450W

Just wondering will I need any extra Sata cables or anything else?

Last thing is that the Intel Xeon 1230v2 there's only one left in stock so I hope it will stay like that until I order it but it might not so I was wondering where else can I get the CPU from that will ship to Ireland, I guess Amazon and dabs would be the place but is there any other place that sells them cheaper?

But I hope everything stays as it is. =D

You should get all the Sata cables you need with the motherboard. You could order from amazon if the Xeon goes out of stock before you order but it might cost more unfortunately. You could always order from Hardwareversand anyway even if it's out of stock and hope they get them back in stock pretty quickly.

Okay thanks for the information, They are in stock for now but if they go out of stock I guess there nothing much I can do I will need to spend a little more than. My goal is to have the parts and the computer built before Halloween.

Order as soon as you can and hopefully they'll get your order in while they still have stock :)

I'd probably change to this card as well if you can. Prices are up on down on hwvs all the time. It's a better card for the money anyway.

I wouldn't get that kingston ram. It's stock voltage is 1.65v. This stuff is the same speed and timings at 1.5v and it's cheaper.

You could get the haswell xeon if you wanted but it costs a bit more. It's about 10% faster though. You would have to get a Haswell board to go with it then as well.

I don't know if I should use the Haswell CPU as Plan B or not? Is it really worth the money over the other one? Another thing is the GPU would the Temps be high on it as there's only one fan? Would that extra 1GB give me more power (frames) or is the GPU just overall more powerful than the GTX 760? With the RAM everything is okay I will go with that one then.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 10,299 ✭✭✭✭BloodBath

Well the cpu is 10% faster and costs a little under 10% more so it's worth it.

The cooler on that card is great. It's actually one of the best ones.

The extra card memory won't make a difference for 1080p at the moment but the card is a bit faster than the 760gtx when overclocked.

I think I will then just go with the Haswell chip seems to be good, Yeah I'm just after looking around about the card and seems to be great so I will stick with it. I'm all ready now I guess just need to wait till the motherboard comes back in stock hopefully on the day is says it will come in.

You could get the h87 board if you want raid support and it's in stock. If you get serious into the video editing you may want raid further down the line.
