    Hi,

I have a combo sat / freeview box Ferguson Ariva 200 with the remote control RCU640 v.2

The remote is not working anymore and I think it got un-programmed somehow (I can control the TV so that tells me that the remote is still alive).

I cannot find anywhere how to reprogram it on the STB mode or what code has the Ferguson sat receivers... I have tried a search (holding the STB button for longer than 3 seconds and waiting to see the volume +) but even half an hour nothing (got some channel change actions so that tells me again that remote and the receiver are communicating with each other).

It is the exact problem like http://www.ferguson-digital.eu/en/faq/rcus/192-rcu640-stopped-to-work-correctly-is-it-broken.html - but there is no solution for v.2 of the remote.

Another solution for finding the code (it is in TV mode but I guess is the same for STB). Press the STB and number 1 in the same time and count the number of flashes (if no flash that means code number 0) do the same using STB + 2 and STB+ 3 and STB+4 to get the four digit code. If anyone having this remote is kind enough to check that and post me back the code, so I can try it.

    Many thanks,
    Adrian

    Many thanks!

Simply pressing the STB button and then using the keys should work the STB.

I have pressed the STB button successfully for 2 years now :)

Apparently in that version of the remote control, STB is a programmable button which in my case got reset somehow. I have managed for example to program the STB button with the codes from my Sony TV and it worked..

So I need the original code behind the STB and that can be obtained by pressing STB + 1 in the same time, counting the # of flashes and then STB + 2 and then STB + 3 and STB + 4 that is the code I need :)

It will be great is you can get it for me from your remote...

Thanks, there is a manual in English on their website go to products -> RCUs -> Downloads http://www.ferguson-digital.eu/en but they do not mention how to code the STB button :) (their website is down at the moment).

Would you have the same remote or maybe the RCU650?

great, I think the codes on the RCU650 are the same..

Can you retrieve the code for me please.. press STB and number 1 in the same time and count the number of flashes, then STB + number 2, STB+ number 3 and STB + number 4 - this should get a 4 digit code I need.

    Many thanks!

done as you asked but feck all is flashing on remote or front of box...

did u try the reset code

    Deleting television settings
    1. Press and hold the
    TV
button for 3 seconds. The POWER button on the remote control will
    light up.
    2. Enter the 4-digit code 9990

reset should be press the TV and 0 in the same time.. once is flashing 3 times is back to factory settings.

On the STB button mine is reseting to 0074 which is a TV code...

try to press STB and then the number quickly after (0.5 seconds), rather than pressing them in the same time.

the flash you need to count is on the "Power" button that lights up. If no flashes means number 0

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,905 ✭✭✭steveon

tried that and it just flashes the same as if I was pressing the button on its own...

Have you tried leaving the batteries out of the remote for a cpl of days surely it would reset itself then?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 103 ✭✭andy73

sorry, just to be clear.. Press STB button and while that is pressed then after a fraction of the second press number one - count the number of flashes of the power button and then release both buttons and do the same for STB and number 2, STB and number 3 and STB and number 4.

I also have a ariva 250 combo box with an RCU640 V.2 remote which stopped working. I tried resetting the remote using the procedures described but none worked. I finally decided to throw it in the freezer for a laugh not expecting that it would work, but it actually did.

    Thanks a million...

Glad that it worked for you too!

I have the same issue with a Ferguson Ariva HD Combo and the RCU640 V.2 remote. The freezer didn't work its magic for me (left it in for 10 mins).
The sensor is working so it has un-programmed itself it seems. It does pick up a TV but it just won't talk to the STB itself.
I posted a request to Ferguson site twice about getting the reset code but not avail...
    Any pointers greatly appreciated...

Have you removed the batteries before putting it in the freezer (freezer not refrigerator....)?

Yes, I removed batteries first and then put remote in top drawer of freezer.

sorry to hear that freezing method did not worked.. mine has no problem since the "fix". Maybe you need to put the whole receiver ;)
