A friend has bought a car that's been in the country since 2009, but not cleared. Brought in here by the previous owner before it was 30 years old. Parked up for 4 years unused.
Now the present owner is wondering is there a hape of cash owing on VRT here if its brought to the attention of The Man.

Any idea on the best course of action.

If it's UK get onto the DVLA for an 'export cert' - that'll be dated from now , then go to the NCTS to say you bought it in the north (with petrol reciept - transportation costs - from Newry ?). If it from anywhere else the registration authorities might have relevant documents

The car was parked up for whatever reason, so he wants to 'regularise' it - let him just get on and reg/tax it and we can all go on our merry way ? :)
