WARNING.. GRAPHIC UPSETTING CHILD ABUSE STORY..WARNING.
apologies for not displaying this from the beginning.

    http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-2434033/French-mother-Sabrina-Bonner-held-son-4-raped-stepfather-Lionel-Barthelemy-prison.html

A French mother who held her four-year-old son by the arms while he was raped by his stepfather in a prison visiting room has been sentenced to a maximum 20 years in jail.
Sabrina Bonner, 25, blindfolded her child and made him kneel on a chair throughout the ordeal.
Her partner, 31-year-old Lionel Barthelemy, who has been jailed since August 2009 for violence, also received the same sentence from the court in Strasbourg, eastern France.

Both Bonner and Barthelemy have admitted to multiple counts of rape and sexual assault of the boy, now eight.
Some of the assaults, including the rape in the visiting room at the Toul detention centre in eastern France, had been filmed on a mobile phone.
'The behaviour of Sabrina B. is not even that of an animal towards its child,' said prosecutor Gilles Delorme, who also described Barthelemy as 'a sadist in the purest form'.
At the detention centre, Bonner had blindfolded her son and made him kneel on a chair in front of Barthelemy, then held him by the arms as he was raped.

The case had raised questions over why prison staff failed to stop, or even notice, an act of such brutality taking place during what was supposed to be a supervised visit to a prisoner serving a sentence for domestic violence, who had been diagnosed as having schizophrenic tendencies.
Investigators had found that black bin bags were used to cover the glass window of the door of the visiting room.
Yannick Pheulpin, the lawyer representing the victim, said he intended, at the end of the trial, to initiate legal proceedings aimed at holding the prison to account for the suffering of the child.

Psychiatrist Jean-Pierre May told the court that the couple had a 'sado-masochist relationship' in which each took turns to be 'master' and 'slave'.
'It is hard to determine who used the other more' during the savage acts carried out on the boy, said another expert, Jean-Georges Rohmer.
Bonner has admitted carrying out multiple sexual assaults on her child during 2009 and 2010, filming them on her mobile phone and giving the phone’s memory card to her imprisoned partner.
She gave herself up to police in May 2011, shortly before Barthelemy was due to be released from prison.
Bonner has claimed that she carried out the assaults under the orders and threat of violence from Barthelemy.

Fifteen minutes, unguarded, in an unsupervised prison yard. Full of large angry men. With concealed blunt instruments.

These two, AND those ba€tards who tortured those hostages in the shopping mall in Kenya. That's what they need.

    Not sadistic enough I reckon.

Or we could give them a warm bed, flat screen tv, further education, hot food, entertainment, access to a gym and a mobile phone.

    Oh wait, that's prison...

Well WE aren't going to do anything because she'll probably go to prison in France.

Why is sadism a good idea to deal with sadism?

    An interesting question.

Maybe because the idea of justice through punishment and retribution for heinous deeds demands that the transgressor be made to suffer an ill proportionate to that which he has wrought.

How do we choose how to torture them and who will carry out this exercise? I think that spending the rest of your life in prison is all the punishment needed. The prisoner doesn't get to take part in society anymore, for the rest of their lives.

That's 400 to 600 years ago, even 2,000 years ago we had children engaged in orgies and not a eyelid would be batted, but I dare say, not like this, this, whilst not unique, is seriously special and it's been bread out of civilized man ~ though obviously not completely, we know and feel better in 2013.

That's a long time, like over 7000 days. That is a very long time. I daresay her life is essentially over in any case. 20 years in prison, the world will be a different place when you emerge.

Nah nobody suggested that. It's not like there's torture or that, and nothing in between. What good is civilised society reducing itself to the level of depravity. They should have gotten maximum security prison for life though.

Poor little boy - hopefully by some miracle he's too young to be scarred for life... :(

Putting the torture aside for a moment, I think they should be killed, and what with the prohibitive cost of imprisonment, (which is, in and of itself, a grotesque form of torture) I think it should be done as expeditiously as possible.

The world is actually better than it's ever been. Unfortunately (as in: it's unfortunate that a world where this happens is a better world than in times past, but it is).

But somebody would have to kill them. How do we choose who does it? Even if their are volunteers, that's still people putting their forward to kill somebody.

Prison is for rehabilitation, in this case I see none, they will simply be released onto the world as very, very hungry beasts. Injection and be gone.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 5,628 ✭✭✭Femme_Fatale

Isn't high-security prison also for punishment and keeping dangerous elements away from the rest of society? As would be fitting in this case.

But nah, whatever about vigilantes/other prisoners - I wouldn't want state employees to have the power to rape and torture.

And do we let this go ahead? How will it be announced on the news? 'They received 20 years in prison where, be assured, they will be raped constantly for the duration of their stay'.

I don't know if I should even say this but I went through a similar experience and I think I died a little inside when I read that. I can only hope that boy will be shown unconditional love and support from a family who I'm sure he will give it back to, tenfold.

I can't remember the last time I had such an emotional response to a story, the Fritzl case maybe. I went from feeling physically sick to a headache in seconds. That poor little lad, I hope that he gets everything that he needs, all the support and love that he deserves tenfold. To abused so violently at such a young age, to be exposed to the very worst that society has to offer when he was barely out of nappies, I just hope that he has the best life, the best life anyone could wish for, he deserves it more than anyone else I can think of.

I know you hate them but have some hugs :), I would imagine that reading something like this must raise a lot of issues for you. I hope that you have the best life possible too, just like that little boy you deserve it.
