    Hi,
I'm going to get married abroad next year. My destination is still up in the air. We want it to be recognized by the church. Does that mean that we have to get married in the church by the priest. If we decide to have a civil cermony on a beach does that mean that the church will not recognise us as married?. Please help quite confused.
    thanks
    Jeanie

i'm getting married abroad too next year in Rome. Ya as far as I know ya have to get married in church if you want a catholic wedding. I could be wrong but this is the gist i've gotten so far from looking into it.

    Hi Noisin,
Just spoke to our pp this morning and he has told us you can have a catholic cermony anywhere so long as it is conducted by a preist which is great news but by the time we finished speaking with him we decided to go to Rome as it is the safer option and get married there. Just wondering have you decided on getting a wedding planner or are you doing the organising your self. Any information i would be grateful.

    thanks

I had a catholic wedding outdoors. No requirement for a church according to our priest, I think it's at their discretion.

it depends on the country and their rules. Up until pretty recently all weddings in Ireland had to be conducted indoors and only really in churches.
