Great year for Blackberries bumper crop out there...

so if you're idle and got nothing to do today, why not go out and pick some and then make a tart or stew some to have with your cereal

mmmmm delicious ( and full of goodness)

you're late to the party - my fingers & lips have been purple for weeks!

you can also soak them in vodka/gin for a week or so, then filter the liquid for a fine drop of September, and a cure for whatever ails you. :)

Whenever someone says there is a bumper crop of blackberries out there, I'm seeing in my mind lots of mobile phone devices dangling from the hedges....

Are they still good for picking? I usually harvest everything from the lane near my friend's house. Thought I'd left it too late this year!

Had a rogue bush appear in my garden this year out of nowhere....packed with the things. Every week I have been going out and collecting the ripe ones, and then the week later it is full of more ripe ones. Delicious!

I was picking some I happened past during the heatwave there and as I was doing it, a big **** off bumble bee tried to kill me. Dodged and weaved for a bit but he was adamant, he wanted me dead and continued to attack me. So I took off down the road in a zig zag fashion, ducking amd bobbing, waving my hands about when he attacked my ear, which was the point at which I made, what can only be described as, a primal yelp. That seemed to work and so I went on about my way, walking past around a dozen or so young teenagers who wear in hysterics, bastards.

Moral of story: don't pick fruit if you're a big jessie.

They are not cheap. 2 very small packs for €5 in Dunnes. Seems a lot for something that wont fill you up at all....

anybody who pays for blackberries at this time of year needs their head examined

Don't pick them near a road, the shít that comes out the back of a Diesel car is quite bad for you.

Nah I picked loads this week

It was so much easier to blame it on Them. It was bleakly depressing to think that They were Us. If it was Them, then nothing was anyone's fault. If it was us, what did that make Me? After all, I'm one of Us. I must be. I've certainly never thought of myself as one of Them. No one ever thinks of themselves as one of Them. We're always one of Us. It's Them that do the bad things.

There I was on a lovely sunny day cycling by the river, with the road nearby, when I saw all the blackberries. I ate them. I ate them all despite the pollution. Fo fukks sake, I want some fukkin poetry in my life and I'm not going to let the fukkin pollution ruin the fukkin beauty of the moment. :-)

The blackberries are all gone out my way, withered and picked. I haven't seen good, fresh blackberries in nearly a fortnight.
