    Hi All,

What are the best courses to play in Cork, preferably near Roscarberry. Is Skibereen any use?

    Thanks

Dont know Skibb but Bandon, Bantry and Lisselan (9 hole but a tough test) are nice courses.

Lisselan tough ask alright but enjoyable if you are around on hols. You get to go on a train ride there. Enjoyed Bandon when I played it before. Didn't play Skib or Bantry though Bantry I've heard is decent enough.

Are these relatively expensive to play or would 30/35 yo yos get me a game? Are they Links or parkland? Thanks a lot.

    Bandon is €35 on weekdays.

Amazingly, despite having such a long coastline, there is no 'true' links course in Cork.

    Hey Joey,

We spend a lot of time in Rosscarberry and surprisingly even though there is a great driving range and superb Pitch and Putt course, there are very little options for golfing in that region.

    Your best options would be:
    • Lisselan(9holes)
    • Skibereen
    • Bantry
    • Kenmare if you are willing to drive
    • Bandon
On weekdays I am sure you will get great deals on all of these courses.

Wouldn't go near it unless you want to get killed, fairways crossing like mad!

As a west cork golfer who has played all the West Cork courses, my own opinion would be ( given in the order of proximity to Rosscarbery )

Dunmore - poorest of the lot but closest. If its windy forget it, as a previous poster said lots of crossing fairways.

Lisselan - lovely course but only 9 holes. Tough but usually in good condition with some unusual holes and one spectacular hole with the approach over the river to a green in front of the Chateau.

Bandon - nice parkland course, always in good condition but usually very busy. Would want to ring ahead to make sure of availability

Skibbereen - ok course, too many short par 4's for my liking

Bantry - in very good condition after the Summer we have had. Challenging course with some great spectacular holes. Lots of big greens with some severe slopes on them. My brother played there on Tuesday and the greens have just been hollow tined. Really scenic as it's on the coastline overlooking Bantry Bay.

    Hope this helps

Would agree stick to bandon or bantry

Dunmore is a sh1thole as is Kenmare both a cross between pitch and putt and crazy golf
Skibb has 9 ok holes but the 9 accross the road are awful
