Must have had staches all over the place if he forgot he had it.

He must have had the place stuffed with cash. Im sure he gathered up at least 95 percent of what was hidden. All he left behind was small change to him.
This chap might pay for priory hall yet.

    Hint:

He was in the IRA and is now a property developer that enriched himself while putting people's lives at risk and has driven one person to suicide.

I just struggle to comprehend the level of scum-baggery involved here...

Just out of curiosity as I wasn't living in the country when the Priory Hall thing happened although I know the outcome.
But don't we have building regs inspectors over here etc? So who signed off on the apartments? Surely you can't get a mortgage without a survey?

All the boys in the IRA got paid off nicely.
Some bought pubs, some became developers, some became politicians.
No surprise there was money found.

The beauty about being a developer is you sign off on your own project.:D

Seriously??? My ex is an architect in the UK and there is no way a developer can sign off on their own project as far as I know. You have all kinds of inspections before a building is signed off.
    Jesus wept!

You'd think so. When I bought my house eleven years ago (it's a standard 30+ year old 3 bed semi), I had to pay the bank €200. When I was organising it, I naively asked the girl what time I had to arrange access for the surveyor. She laughed and said he didn't need access, it was a drive by, he just needed to see there was a house there.

To be honest, I doubt anyone actually did even drive by.

The regulations in Ireland are ridicules. We should have a completely new code by now following the Priory Hall debacle. With physical standards & checks in place.

Even fire certification if outrageous. The certificates are issued off the plans. Nobody physically checks the building before, during or after. I have a friend who's a firefighter & he told me his house have an unofficial list of developments that the guys have physically gone to check in their downtime & rated as 1-10 of potential danger. Said there's a huge amount of danger out there but there's nothing they can do.

Mcfeely is such an unfortunate name

Well its no wonder McFeely et al were rubbing their grubby hands with glee. Could basically knock up a turd and charge a fortune for it and let someone call it home with no come back.
    The mind boggles!

I assume that's why the authorities are loath to act on Priory Hall as it might open a huge can or worms about all the other developments that must be the same.
