I had a feeling ye might say that but im currently using a shimmano hybrid.

I have the guy basically down to €110.

Im afraid I will just give up been honest and figured at that price I could probably sell it on without much loss.

Budget is ??? prob no more than €300 if I really pushed it but afraid to in case it is a waste.

    Even price?

What would it retail at new?

For €110, you would go further in a taxi. It's not worth it. It doesn't matter how much it was new, because it wasn't worth that either. Even if you haggle him down to half his current price, it's not worth it. He's offered to give it to you? No, it'll occupy too much valuable space, it's not worth that.

So in summary: It's not a bargain, no.

It probably wouldn't even retail for what he's asking. Grip shifters on a road bike. There's one for the books anyways.

It's an absolute heap of shíte, steer clear.

Agree with all the above. Forget about it - you'll be able to pick up something genuinely decent within budget. We got a Giant Defy 2 (2011) with full Tiagra there recently for €350.

I'd suggest raising your budget to about €350-400 .. it'll make life much easier... you'll get a decent bike, enjoy riding, start looking for another bike, buy more bike related stuff, keep looking at more bikes, upgrade the bike, keep looking at more bikes.. and so on.
