Train the Trainer - how to become the trainer?

    Hi all,

I would be grateful if there are any tutors of the 'Train the Trainer' fetac level 6 courses out there who could help me.
I am a recently unemployed qualified secondary school teacher and I am looking at other ways of continuing to teach in some form, as the second level market is very poor at the minute.
I have a BBS (Bachelor of Business), a PGDE (PostGraduate Diploma in Education) and a Certificate in Teaching English as a Foreign Language. I've also done an adult literacy tutor training course and a Start your own Business course.
How do I become a tutor on the 'Train the Trainer' courses? Do I have to have the course done myself or is my PGDE sufficient?

    Regards

The train the trainer course is obsolete from December.

Ok, so I am guessing this course is really of no value anymore?

Everything is changing in the FE sector with new programmes etc so the best bet is to look for work as a FETAC Business Tutor.

If you want to deliver FETAC awards (now QQI) you will have to do it via a registered provider so contact all the private providers in your area and see if they have vacancies for business tutors. You could also contact the local ETB (formerly VEC) to see if their FETAC centres or PLC colleges are recruiting tutors but there is a large number of Business Teachers/Tutors employed in the sector at present.

    Best of luck
