Summons for Speeding - No tickets in post!

    Hi,

I got a summons for speeding yesterday. I received no tickets or followup notices in the post for the offence in April. No I have no doubt its my car in the photo and I have no issue in paying the speeding fine but this summons was the first I heard of the whole thing.

I have not changed address since the initial speeding date. Just went to the Guards there and he said that there is no way around it that I have to go to court.

Just wondering is there any way to check when the ticket or notices went out and to what address?

    Thanks

Ticket could have been lost in the mail or maybe you're only letting on you didn't get it.
Either way you get the fine. The judge won't care if ticket actually arrived or not.

not so...lots of cases are struck out because there is no proof the ticket was posted...which it probably was....

Actually this is true, from previous threads on this issue some have been let off, some paid the original fine and some given extra fine.
Seems it's up to the judge on the day (if they believe you) and if the Garda shows up or not.

Go to court and tell the judge exactly the same as above. :)

Is your correct address on your documentation?

When I was stopped, the Garda asked for my correct address (I hadn't changed my licence), but the fine still arrived to my old address. Obviously he overlooked what he had written in his notebook or something.
If I hadn't been in touch with the people living there, I would have assumed that the Garda just didn't send it until a summons arrived.

similar happened to me boss.He didn't get the notice.Ended up in court. They should start posting with registered mail.So if it wasn't signed for is proof you didn't get it.Ah the good oul days when the guards would personally call to your house.

The address is correct on the summons and I was never stopped as it was a speed gun. Its weird I never got any of the notices, I don't mind paying the fine and would have if it ever arrived. Its just a pain in the arse going to court and wasting my time and the courts over it.

In Many cases the Cop wont show up so may be worth your while going to court. If he does, just plead guilty and take get the points like a man :p
