Our Electricity Bill has been €150 pm on average for the last 12 months. Is there any way we can get this checked out as we feel this is excessive!

    Hi jt69er,

We have a section on our website Reduce Your Costs, which pools together several resources to help customers cut down on energy usage. For example, with our Appliance Calculator you can:
    • Estimate how much your home electrical appliances and lights cost to run
    • Compare the cost of using appliances in different ways (e.g. washing clothes at 40 °C versus 60 °C)
    • See the positive impact of using your appliances wisely (e.g. using a small ring on your stovetop versus a larger one

To use the Appliance Calculator online (it's also a smartphone app) click here.

If, having cut down on usage where possible, you still feel too much electricity is being used, you could see about getting an energy monitor (something like this), or you might get an electrician to double-check your appliances and internal wiring. Before we could send out a technician to check the meter, we would have to have it confirmed from an electrician that all is well with the internal wiring first (if there is a fault, it is nearly always due to the internal wiring as opposed to the meter).

If you have any other questions don't hesitate to ask.

    Regards,
    David
