For anyone wondering what the OP refers to
NO-ONE is to be investigated over the shocking revelations contained in the Anglo Tapes published this summer by the Irish Independent, the Central Bank has said.

If an ordinary member of the public did that they'd in prison for 1000 years!!! I cant believe they have gotten away with it scot free whereas others have had to suffer with the consequences!

If an ordinary member of the public did what?
    Made a phone call?

I've never heard of a 1,000 year sentence being imposed in Ireland either.

What specific charges would you like to see being prosecuted exactly?

I just would have thought that someone... SOMEONE would have done something. My stupidity in thinking this obviously

Being massive dicks and almost ruining the country is unfortunately not a criminal offence according to the Irish penal code apparently.

And yes, I said "dicks" and "penal" in the same sentence.

Why does the Central Bank have to make a formal complaint before any investigation happens?

Regardless of whether or not any crimes were committed, it seems odd to me that the CB can basically dictate that no investigation takes place.

Well for one, that those responsible for laughing out of their holes about the whole thing be dealt with. They knew what was happening way before anyone else did and blackmailed the Central Bank and Government to pump more money into them.
They lied their way all the way through.
A prison sentence I feel is appropriate, obviously not a 1000 years
And by member of the public I meant that if I lied my way through a loan application and it got approved, then raised my hands and said "ah sure I've no money so it's your problem" I dont think the bank would simply say "ah no worries, off with ya we will just write it off"

What? You mean exactly like a large amount of the population did and are now calling foul and looking for "debt forgiveness"?

Sure if you manage to mortgage yourself right up to 17m before realising youve no money then go on hunger strike youll even get some supporters.

You want them prosecuted for laughing?

What charges do you want brought? Be as specific as you are able to be. You obviously want them to be charged with 'something', so what is that 'something'?

Corruption would be a start, deceiving could be another... I'm not in law so I dont know but a prison sentence would suffice for me

So we've learned that being unrepentant, saying moolah and singing Deutschland über alles is not illegal but not paying TV licence fines is...

This and granting chief bank officers immunity from prosecution (good article here), while refusing to grant immunity to whistleblowers within banks - while regulators simultaneously threaten the whistleblower with prosecution if he exposes illegality (this happened to Jonathan Sugarman), along with complete refusal to engage in any kind of real investigation of any of this (even when some experts on fraud/regulation are of the opinion that our financial/banking system was rife with fraud).

There's plenty worth protesting about over this blatant protection of corruption within the banking/financial/political system (arguably among business too), and it's easy to draw up a series of specific goals/aims for such a protest, such as making public all of the information surrounding this that is being suppressed/kept-secret, and actually have some real fúcking investigations into all of this (not the weak crap we have seen thus far), and start revealing crimes and prosecuting people.

A lot of the people who arguably helped significantly, with fúcking up our economy for decades to come, are being protected from any consequences here - arguably ensuring that something like this happens again in the future, since there are no repercussions; is this not something well worth protesting about, that pretty much anybody could justify (to themselves) attending?
