At the minute,this kind of makes sense, no? We cant afford immigrants at this point in time,we certainly should not be letting more in,the job market is saturated with irish people seeking employment. by allowing more in we are pushing natives out,so i find the ubber liberal responses to this thread infuriating,im liberal but not at a cost to our country.

I think this is a brilliant idea. We can start by having the entire Irish Diaspora (including their offspring/grandchildren) move back to Ireland, so as our 'culture' isn't polluting whatever country the left for.

Then we can have an Ireland for ALL of the Irish.

immigrants are cheaper than home grown folks

reasons why?

1. home grown can get social welfare / immigrants need to work at least 2 years before being able to make a claim on welfare.

2. home grown workers want more pay than immigrants for doing the same jobs

Its competition with a different accent. Every polish person in this country only has a job because apparently they are working for pittance, none of the millions were actually more equipped to do the job. Its a lazy attitude to try get rid of non nationals so the job market wont be so dense, put that energy into getting a job!

Rubbish, most people on the dole would take minimum wage work, unless you mean the employers are paying non national less then minimum wage because as you say have to wait 2 yrs, so taken advantage of.

I worked as security in a shopping center,dunnes store's in newbrigde had one position available as a shelf packer,we had 1400 Cv's,so please dont try and blame the people,as its the governments fault!

alot of those on the dole wont work for minimum wages because they would be worse off at present.

they would lose the rent allowance, medical card, have to pay for child care if applicable, have travel costs to get to and from work.
