On general sale for €141 or €119 for Clubcard holders.
It also comes with in-built apps, including YouTube and Google Chrome.

The supermarket giant hopes the colourful Android-operated gadget, priced at €141, will attract customers who might not have been able to afford one before

So....they price it higher than similarly specced budget tablets

It is a saving of a whole €8 compared to what they were selling the Nexus 7 16gb a few weeks ago.

Having said that, wouldn't be the worst for children if (like me) you weren't into rooting the imported budget tablets, and it was running 4.3 (with the restricted user option). Obviously it's not running 4.3 which is a bit of miss.

£60 in UK with clubcard. Specs are excellent for this tablet.

What is a qualifying clubcard member? I presume you can't just sign up for a clubcard one day and get the tablet at a reduced price the next? Anyone have more specific info about the CPU, GPU and RAM?

Who has €70 in clubcard vouchers lying around? Most people spend them as soon as they get them.

Also the Irish Examiner just took the UK price and multiplied it by last night's exchange rate for Pounds to Euro (£119 x 1.18540) and got €141. I'd wait to see the official Tesco price with the "Paddy Tax" added.

Why don't Tesco in Ireland do the same as Tesco in UK and have a
2 for 1 offers with Clubcard vouchers when buying electrical items?
So if you have £20 of Clubcard vouchers in the UK, you can get £40 worth of goods.
Would be better then the current offers they do here.

We Irish are use to being shafted.

The problem with cheaper, tablets (and phones) is usually not the spec but the quality of the screen and how responsive it is. Also if its gets updates of the OS.

That's UK vouchers, doubt they'll accept ours for it.

You can be sure there will be Android forks out almost straight away for this. Get rid of the Tesco influenced OS.

Highly unlikely this will be available in Ireland anytime soon due to licencing issues similar to Kindle Fire.

Isn't that a different issue to do with the licensing of content rather than the hardware.

Ah well. If you want one it'll be a UK one, guys.
I contacted Tesco Customer Care and got this reply:
I have checked with my Business Support Team and unfortunately we are not currently stocking the Hudl in any of our Republic of Ireland stores.

Well it doesn't go on sale in UK until Sept 30th so it's unlikely to be in stock here for a while.

No - the Hudl will be supplying content through Tesco's Clubcard TV and Blinkbox Movie service which isn't licenced here.

Wasn't the Kindle locked to a Kindle branded store for apps/content. Going by the reviews thus far, the Hudl seems to have access to the vanilla android app store. Is that not quite different? If not why not?

AFAIK Clubcard TV and Blibkbox will work here, even if not supposed to.

    You can sign up at

    http://www.clubcardtv.com/

Just put in your Tesco ClubCard number and address - it's supposed to be UK only but if you put say BT11AA as your postal code it will work fine. It does not seem to be intelligent enough to do geo-blocking. For pcs it need SilverLight though.
