Hey everyone I just was just curious about going to Thomond park as I've never been.
I'm thinking of going to the Connacht and Munster game on December 27th.

Where in the stadium should I get my tickets for (I want the best Thomond experience possible)?

I have the option of choosing the Ospreys game on the second of November. Would this be an better choice of match to go to?
    Cheers.

There'll be a bigger attendance / better atmosphere at the Connacht game after Christmas. Best experience will be on one of the terraces. Esat or West. Opinions are divided as to which is better!

haha thanks for the reply. Would you say Munster would be playing their second side or not? I want to see O'Connell in action before he retires.

While the terraces are good for atmosphere, they're not great for watching rugby as you can be away from a lot of the action

Heads up - Thomond Park is the coldest place on earth. I recommend wearing as many layers as you can possibly fit on you, I only lasted 40 minutes last Christmas at the Ulster game before I had to return to the bar.

thanks for the heads up. Don't worry I'll be prepared!

Where can you get closer to the action than from the terraces?

OP, book a ticket in the East or West terrace, there's some cover from the stands should it be a wet evening. East has a bit more freedom to move around.

Not sure about POC being available under the player welfare rules. I think he might but he might be held back to play against Ulster in Ravenhill.

Best spot by far imo is east terrace, close to all the action and the bench/tunnel. also alot warmer in terraces than the stands and if you get close to the halfway as good a view as any imo. As for seeing paulie your best bet would b the hcup, also alot better atmosphere on hcup match day. tickets still available on munster site afaik

I'd be surprised if you see O'Connell against Connacht.

If to see O'Connell is your priority - and if your dates are flexible - I'd try to get a ticket to a Heineken Cup match as he'll play in that for certain (they play Gloucester on 19th October in Thomond in the Heineken Cup).

There are East Terrace tickets for the Heineken Cup match available for €30 from Ticketmaster (http://www.ticketmaster.ie/heineken-cup-munster-v-gloucester-limerick-city-10-19-2013/event/18004B0CB57C2F6D?artistid=33318&majorcatid=10004&minorcatid=225) plus Ticketmaster's charges of a few quid on top. There are only about 100 terrace tickets still available so they'll probably sell out in the coming weeks.

I suspect that would be a better match as the Heineken is a higher priority to the Pro12 for most teams.

The games before the new year your going to see a full side in are Leinster on Oct 5th in the Pro 12, Gloucester on Oct 19th and Perpignan on Dec 8th in the Heineken. Terrace for all 3 of these is €30 plus booking fee. Ospreys and Connacht in the Pro 12 will be €20 for a terrace ticket, but your unlikely to see the internationals.

Perpignan on the 8th will have a wicked atmosphere because a lot of clubs will run buses as a Christmas trip.

In fairness you've got as much protection from the elements as an anorexic stick insect, it was probably balmy when you were there! :D

When I go to buy tickets for the east terrace It says i can only get 1. Does this mean I've to do the transaction and do it all over again to get another ticket? and also how long before kick-off should you arrive at the game for good viewing in the terrace?

Not sure about the quantities but it's a bit daft if you can't book multiple of tickets at the same time.

    For a H/cup game.

If you want a barrier and be between the two 22s then be in the terrace for about an hour before kick off.

Just tried Ticketmaster for the Gloucester game, yes, it seems you can only buy 1 ticket at a time for East Terrace South, 3 for West Terraces and up to 9 for the South and North Terraces.

If you know any MRSC member they can purchase multiple of tickects in the East terrace.

As of this morning there's about 750 tickets remaining for the MRSC members, not sure if there other tickets available through ticketmaster.

I just bought my two tickets there for the Gloucester game. I'm just curious as to why 1 says seat 456 and the other seat 505 and that one is row g3 and the other g4? I thought a terrace meant you stand anywhere you can?

    You can.

The seat numbers are probably their way of tracking capacity.

I'm not certain you can go anywhere on the terraces. I think the West Terrace is separated North and South, and might be split up even more than that. But yeah, the seat/row numbers are largely meaningless.

Good choice on the game. The 6pm Heineken Cup kick offs always have the best atmosphere. Should be a good night. Enjoy.

I was in Thomond last night, and it was actually really warm... and it's not like I've got much meat on me either :P

Although it is true that in winter it can be horribly cold. Though not the worst stadium I've been in for the cold

Sorry to drag this one up but no point opening a new thread.
Wondering can anyone help me. I was looking at taking my son down to Thomond for the World 7's but the seating plans are not very clear. Tickets being shown to me are West Stand 216 Row LL. Is LL pretty High up? Don't want to be up in the sky or he will see nothing! Cheers.

Edit: I just found it, it's way up the back...
Would anyone recommend a good section for kids?

The front row of the stand is A and it goes A - Z then AA, BB, CC etc., so LL would be 38 rows back. That section goes back to QQ so your 5 rows from the back of the highest section of the stand. Seating plan is here

Thanks, I hear the East stand or Terrace is better. Is the Terrace a bit low down for a 7 year old?

Not at the front, but he'd be hard pressed to see anything up the back.
Get in early and find a place up front against the wall infront of the pitch.

I've found there is a good view of the playing pitch from all terraces. You can move around freely too, to find a more suitable position if some lanky person impedes your view. Bring sunglasses though. If your kid can't get a decent view, he might be able to sit up on the arm-rests but you'll have to stand behind him at all times...for safety reasons.

I'd take him to the East Terrace, be a lot closer to the action. Stand at the railing by the touchline or the barrier closest to the touchline, the step is about 18ins high so even a 7yo would have a decent view.

Hey guys, the day has finally arrived. Just wondering do you have any advice on parking? I am not too familiar with Limerick.
    Thanks again.

Drive towards tomond and park in one of the housing estates near it. Never a problem getting parking there for HC matches so can't see it being a problem for this

Is that permitted? Park and ride from Raddisson on the Ennis Road looks good, but no info of return times.

I've never had a problem, all the match traffic seems to park there. Sometimes your have lads directing cars in and I'd always give them a few quid to "mind the car". You can usually park in the college beside thomond as well and pay but it's usually slow to get out

Was there not issues re parking in the housing estates near ground over last season?

Normally is but think there was problems last season. Where are you coming from? Park and ride is usually good enough(never used myself though)

OP never use LIT to park in as terrible to get out of. Use college accommodation down cratloe road before parking in the college

I've parked opposite Ardscoil Rís recently.

I wouldn't waste your money on a park and ride, particularly if there's a few of you going and it's not a sell out match.

MR has warned about parking in estates, think its mentioned on MR thread.

The P&R stop shortly after the game so if it's your intention to hang around after the game P&R might not be an option for you.

I've used LIT for Pro12 & H/cup games and was never more than a few minutes exiting the place, head around the back and try that exit rather than the exit at the roundabout. Note: I generally don't leave the ground for a few minutes after the final whistle, usually have a chat before leaving so traffic might have lightened off. If this is for tomorrow then I'm not sure if LIT will be open.

Parking on the Strands or Ennis Road should be okay tomorrow.

Come into roundabout near old TwoMile Inn or Sheils garage, take first exit off that roundabout, turn right at T junction, over humpback bridge, continue in along this road to LIT roundabout if parking in LIT, you could try turning right at the pedestrian lights ( not the pelican crossing) and park in from of Caherdavin Credit Union or Caherdavin primary school.

Careful of speed limit on back road.

If u park in Caherdavin, for exiting to return home- drive up to near entrance to church, turn left, then right at T junction (Sheelin Rd), down to end, turn left then right at lights.
