Just wondering if anyone has experience with stuff going missing at An post.
Three weeks ago a package failed to arrive. I have the address of the sender and he was quite co operative. He was supposed to do the paperwork and fill in a form as An post dont have a form for the recipient to fill out.
I am wondering if An post should have at least phoned me to ask me some questions about the missing stuff by now or was the inquiry put in the 'special' filing cabinet aka the bin ?

How do you know he filled it out?

The timeline specified internationally is 60 days. You can fill it out as a recipent. It's an M58 form available on anpost.ie

    Otherwise just call 1850 57 58 59

By your post it seems the item was sent from abroad - ever thought that it just might have gone missing at the other end? Also, an post or any other delivery service have no contract with you.

    possibilities

    Wrong address written.

Address badly written and item mis directed.

    Item badly packaged

    Sticker with address fallen off

    Item stolen at collection point

Item stolen at first processing point

I was given a tour of the mails centre as part of an posts attempt to win our business (they were successful) - they showed me a cage of items that had no address or an address that was totally illegible. In these cases they open the items to see if there is a return address or where an address if worked out, it is sent back through the system - some items arrive in Ireland and are meant for Iceland / Israel - so I can imagine some items for Ireland ending up in Iceland.

If you are dealing with an ebay or small time sender, ask them to write the address neatly as auto scanners can send an item in a totally wrong direction.
